COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #16

Jim,

I've been to Watertown a couple of times to teach a supervision class - but not to work on bridges.

New York is broken up into 11 different Department of Transportation Regions. I work for Region 6 - which is composed of six counties
: Allegany, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Yates.

We are about 60-70 miles due south of Rochester and west of Binghamton. Western Allegany County to eastern Tioga County spans 150 to 160 miles.

When I worked in Bridge Maintenance (prior to my construction days) we had the responsibility to maintain about 620 bridges.

Sheila - keep looking for that envelope - if you find it - just save it for next year!!!

Bad news - and Barnabas is not here to enjoy it - the Yankees won today! I told my mother - the Yankee fan - that's too bad - she just smiled.

Jim,
My dad always used to say that when we get to heaven - we'll all be 33 years old - because that's how old Jesus was at His death. Dad considered Jesus to be in the prime of His life!!!

Dan - past middle age - and I feel it tonight.

PS - My construction supervisor and his boss conducted the final inspection on the plastic bridge today. They both said it looked good - so I guess it passed muster.

Now to get all the paper-work straightened out - and get everything paid for.

Good Morning Blackbird!

Yes, the Cubs lost last night. It was a real shocker. They led the whole game 3-0 until the 8th inning. Final score was Cubs 3, Marlins 8.

We will have to win tonight or no World Series this year. :(

Yes, It was a heartbreaking loss. My concern is for that fan that interfered with Alou in the 8th inning. A dumb thing to do, but not a capital offence folks!

Good morning, all! Sitting here typing in the dark.
When does the sun rise where you live? It stays
dark until @ 6:30 around here now.

Fall has certainly set in. Time to take the youngest
grandchild to the university to play in the leaves.

Good Morning Watchman and Abiyah!

Watchman: The fan was escorted out of the stadium for his own protection and is being touted as the "most hated man in Chicago".

Abiyah: It stays dark here too until 6-6:30, but DST is just around the corner so it will be getting light an hour earlier. Drawback: it will be getting dark an hour earlier. I'm not sure which way I like it.

For all you Cub fans:

I heard this on talk radio yesterday - before the game ever started.

Cub fans "Love" their loveable losers. If they win - they won't be loved anymore.

So what do the Cubs want - to be a loser and be loved?

Or - be a winner - and no longer be loved?

It was a rather interesting discussion!!!

Good Morning Dan!

We will love the Cubs no matter what. Of course we want them to win the World Series, we have plenty more years to 'love the losers'. We have had plenty of practice...

I am off to 'the corner'. I will be back later.

TTFN!

Diane, Often when I back out of a topic quickly - I end up with listings from a day or two before!

Today - it seems when I add my reply - that it takes forever for my post to come up.

Dan

PS - I even wrote a response to a topic that had no responses yet - when I hit add reply - I was told that was a non-existent topic?

Never mind. Our dil had worked on her job search all day yesterday on my computer and she had disabled a new program we got from Bellsouth which accelerates page loading for those of us who live in areas where you cannot get DSL.

So, how's everyone today?

As long as I can stay inside - I'm warm and cozy.

Outside - the wind is blowing - and it has been raining - downright nasty day - but better than Snow!!!
