Hi, Tina. Good to meet you. Welcome!!!

Diane, I was just checking in and read the news about Jim. I am so sorry! Maybe the other job will come through and he will be available to take it.

Good Morning, All. We have escaped another winter storm, but another may be on the way.

Boy Howdy from kewl Wyoming (+19F and 2 inches of new powder overnight). Everything is muffled with the new-fallen snow. Had two HUGE phone calls (pre 8 am, so you know the type means only great challenges and needs). Then the wife and I spent an hour in prayer. Sweet fellowship.

Sadly, I had not come on the BB much yesterday or yet today, so did not know to pray for Diane and Jim, and others. Will add that in now.

Wife has this morning off and not heading in 'til noon. It's 10 a.m. and she's making pancakes and turkey bacon (blechh) for "brunch". We will cut each other's hair, then clean up and head to the Clinic. 12:30 'til 8:00 pm makes for a late day.

Oh, well, just rambling on while waiting for the panckaes to turn!

    Thanks for the prayers, guys!

Dr. Bob, We cut our own hair too! I do mine except the very back and Jim can do his own except for the trimming around his ears and back of the neck. We have a Flow-Bee and have used it since the early 1980's!

The wife gets hers professionally cut and shaped each quarter, but I thin the sides and back and cut off the blasted curls along the collar line.

She cut all of the kids hair (from the buzz to the mullett to today) and taught their wives to do it. We had a vacuum cleaner attachment; the suction from the vacuum ran the clippers (no 110) and of course sucked up all the hair.

BUT THE NOISE WAS DEAFENING! So we bought a real clipper set ($12 US; $854 Canadian) and also one for each family. Since we have grandsons in all three families, the clippers are getting a workout!

Don't evne know what it cost for a haircut. Was out on a nationwide tour and unable to link back home back in 85 and got one on the campus of Indiana University. Last one I paid for!

Think is was $4 and I gave the barber a fin. And women's haircuts I know are pricey - wife takes a $20 with her when she goes to the beautiican.

$6.00 Dr. Bob. Our local barber cuts seniors on Monday and children on Thursday for $6.00. Other days it's $9.00. He's closed all day on Wednesday because of church activities.

Women's haircuts are $11.00 at Wal-Mart. I get mine cut once a year or so to define the shape and then use the Flow-Bee the rest of the time. You're so right! Noisy is NOT the word! YIKES! I just did mine this morning and my ears are still ringing!

Just got a letter from Jim's step father's family. They want to have a BIG reunion in the Land of Lincoln this summer and want us to come. Jim's mother remarried when Jim was 11 but he's VERY close to his 'step' relatives. We're in daily contact with his younger 'cousins' from that marriage. Jim's father had died of polio after many years in an Iron Lung. Jim was 7 when he died but had never seen his father walk or out of the Iron Lung until just before he died. They moved him home and onto a 'rocking bed' that forced air in and out of his lungs. He died while Jim was at school one day.

    Good afternoon all,

Tina: Welcome to the Coffee House. I hope you will become a 'regular'. Don't worry about what to say, we just mostly tell about our day and enjoy getting to know each other.

Diane: You can't come to the "Land of Lincoln" without US meeting so I think the reunion is a GREAT idea!!! :D

Sheila: I am fine, thanks for asking. Just freezing and trying not to slip on the ice. Our front walk and the ramp where I stand on the corner are both like skating rinks!

So far this morning we have had a dusting of snow and then about 1/4 inch of ice. We are expecting more snow this afternoon with strong winds and drifting.

I saw my first of 2004 standing in the snow at my corner. He looked a little befuddled - but can Spring be far behind?

§ue (hoping to see more Robins and less snow!)

Actually---both Roger and Dan are right about Blackbird!!! He has hunted down snakes AND rats!! Once--my brother-in-law and I were unloading some corn that had been run through a Hammer Mill---and out jumped a rat out of one of the drums of corn!! Before Blackbird could hop off of the loading dock---much to his shame, the rat was too far away--so Blackbird hollered at his brother-in-law, "Stomp that rat! Get 'im! There he goes! Kill 'im before he gets under the hay barn!!!" Well, suffice to say that---that particular rat didn't have any "hatchlings" that particular year!!!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', rat killin' buddy,
    Blackbird

Hi Granny! Good to see you!

My 100+yr-old house has no rats or snakes - just spiders and crickets!

Filed our taxes via Turbo Tax (online) today. Glad that's done for another year! We actually get a refund this year...will get hubby's truck and my car fixed with it...it will be here in 7-10 days (direct deposit).

Am going to bed and read my Bible for awhile tonight. I just feel a need to get into the Word. I will see y'all bright and early in the mornin'.

You night owls play nice while I'm gone!

    Pleasant dreams all!
