My son, now 15 used to LOVE the Oregon trail, then this last semester, it was part of his history assignment! I am SO enjoying this online school that the kids are doing. I feel a bit guilty about going to the Lord with so much apprehension before hand. I was so scared! I pictured disorganization, bickering, boredom, apathy... instead it has been a treasure. The kids got almost all straight A's and the teachers are great, many of them strong Christians.

My very reserved 15 year old son was being lackadaisical with his Bible quizzing though, and then at the quiz meet on Saturday, he started coming to life. He ended up placing 2nd in the finals. I was so shocked and happy I almost cried.

Are any of you involved in Bible quizzing? I know they don't do cross denominational quizzing, although I think they should. My husband says that the only difference in the doctrines of Free Methodists and Baptist, is the stance on eternal salvation.

Morning all and welcome to the new posters.

Jul - I love quizzing. I used to teach in a Christian school in Alabama and was the quiz coach. We won the State Championship in 1991 and our main opponent was a Bible Methodist school.

Sorry to hear that Sue is sick. Prayed this morning and have been praying for Jim and Diane's job situation.

See you all after Youthreach this afternoon!

Praying for you, C4K, this fine day as I head off . . TO BED! Am working through the Purpose Driven Life and it is an easy-yet-slow-read as one must ponder a lot.

But it keeps me up reading after I log off here. Sure beats reading the Dead Sea Scrolls! Some of that stuff is downright weird! Had to give up bedtime reading of it; too much for my pea brain to handle.

Good Morning All and thank you for the prayers. Please continue, as if this attack is like the others, it is just beginning.

Didn't have a very good night, but am hanging in there. Bronchi is still very tight and uncomfortable. I just don't get over this in a couple of days anymore... :(

Hi Jul and 4GVN, it is good to see you posting!

Hope everyone had a pleasant and restful night's sleep.

Good Moaning folks. Will be on the road today to the little town of Atlanta. Last time somebody rode with me, but this time I'll be hoofing it by myself. I can generally talk to myself 3-4 hours. What will I do the last 70 miles?

Going to have supper with Jim and Diane tonight. [IMG]

Sue---lets start a thread on "Good Things To Serve When BB Guests Arrive!!!"---of course, for me---Vienna Sausage, Bologna and Bread(with lots of Mustard) and Sardines and Crackers will be good enough!!!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', Sardine eatin' buddy,

    Sue,

How will one southerner be able to tell if another southerner has a more pronounced accent or not!!

I would think it's like eating garlic - as long as you both eat it - you have no idea that the other has eaten it!

Dan - the only people who speak normally are western New Yorkers!

    Good Morning Blackbird and Dan!

Blackbird: I'm with you on the sardines and crackers...I eat them all the time. If I feel good enought to cook tonight, I am frying "Smelt". Yummmmmmmmmm

Dan: That's probably true! There ARE different Southern accents though. I have talked to several 'southern' BB members on the phone (the ones who trusted me with their number [IMG] ) and Diane still ranks #1 with the 'most' southern accent...I LOVE it!

If she's anything like me, she's running all over the house dusting this and fluffing that. [IMG]

Hey Y'all, You know I don't get up as early as everybody else! LOL. I've been awake since 7 but only out of bed for about 30 mins.

We're going to drive over and meet Gib in Marietta. He's driving about 6 hours and it's another 45 mins. to an hour to MY house to the west. I'm looking forward to it.

Gib and I have talked on the phone a couple of times now. He doesn't have the typical strong Southern Accent and I don't think I do either since I lived up north for so many years! We'll get some pictures tonight tho.

Jan and I used to attend the super conference at Jerry Falwell's church - years ago. When you listen to Jerry of TV or in person - you'd be hard pressed to know that he was a southern boy.

However - when we would call to make motel reservations - I would always be shocked to find out that the name Harvey - when spoken - can take three minutes to verbalize when spoken with a southern drawl!

Dan - still talks like a western New Yorker!

Diane---folks from south Georgia(Valdosta, Douglas, and other southern points on the map) generally speak with the sound of north Floridians---which you know from experience---that there mingles in Florida a mix of SnowBirds from "Jur-zee" and native Floridians(which are hopelessly outnumbered)---just so long as Gib doesn't "speak with Fork-ed tongue!!"

When Miriam and I eat dinner at someone's home---as we're pullin' into the drive---there's usually a comment---"Alllllllriiiight!!! Don't eat um out of house and home!!!!!" [IMG]

Boy Howdy and blessed cool, crisp morning to all. Only 16F here today, still a blanket of white (coupla inches) on the ground. More snow due in late night.

Having less foot pain (it is there, but not as noticeable and profound as usual). It is normally 3-4 on a 10 scale 365/24/7, waking me 4-5 times a night with more severe pain.

Started a new therapy and I'm at 1-2 on the pain scale (only 1 right now) and NO wake up pain for 4 nights. WOW! God is good. The MD's said "No hope and then you die." I have HOPE!

And then, when I die (and we all will; last time I checked, nobody gets out of this world alive!) I have greater HOPE!

Good day. Now to go start erasing posts on the Versions Forum. Some really nasty stuff going on there and I've already wasted part of the morning there before even saying "hey".

Good afternoon all. That versions forum has really gone crazy.

Good day at Youthreach - had to send one lad home for misconduct - hate it when that happens. We be around this evening.

The versions forum has been bad ground from the very beginning. Some people fail to see the value in ALL translations. I just look for the variations of saying much the same thing, and get on with it.

    Cheers,

    Jim
