    Agreed.

One of the questions that's come up is--Has the governor of Texas formally asked the Texas State Guard to monitor the exercises in the past? As a resident of Texas can you answer that?

According to published reports this is the first time the governor has asked.

    Why does it matter?

Do you really think the Texas State Guard monitired military exercises in the past without orders to do so?

Because you've been making a gigantic stink about it, and I posted evidence that yes, the governor specifically asked the State Guard to monitor the exercises.

Now you say, what does it matter? Make up your mind.

Orders from the general that runs the Texas State Guard, but apparently not from the governor.

The stink comes from the conspiracy theory that the only reason the governor has ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor the exercises is because of conspiracy theorists fearing martial law , or some such, and that he has never done so before. This is a lie.

The commander-in-chief of the Texas State Guard is the Governor of Texas. The General has no authority to use the State guard for anything without the permission of the governor. The Texas State Guard has monitored many military exercise the the past 2 decades. All with the express permission of, or at the orders of, the Governor of Texas.

Surely you understand the chain of command of a military organization?

Again, the first sentence of the governor's letter:

"To address concerns of Texas citizens"...

Yes, and surely you know what a "general order" or "standing order" is?

Do you have a problem with the Governor addressing the concerns of Texas citizens?

He ordered the Texas state Guard to monitor this military exercise, just like our governor has done many times in the past. Always for the same reasons, to address the concerns of and for the safety and security of the citizens of Texas.

    Nothing new here at all.

Except your very own conspiracy theory. Not your usual forte'.

Train like you fight, huh? Isn't that exactly what they're doing, training to fight American citizens on American soil?

Absolutely. That's exactly what they are doing. It really couldn't be anything else. You've shown me the error of my ways.

That would be nice but I have my doubts that you'd ever betray the state and come to the defense of the constitution and the country.

Oh, so now you're saying he DID order the State Guard to monitor the Army exercise to placate conspiracy theorists. Glad to see you come around.

"Many times in the past"? Previously you said "every time in the past". You're slipping. And it's never been established that the governor has ever done this before. In fact, I quoted two sources that said this time is the first time the governor has done so.

    LOL!

Doing your Zaac imitation simply means you've lost the argument. I understand.

No, I don't believe that. I imagine you were to busy identifying with the "good guys" to learn the central lesson of those movies though.

And that lesson was, you might ask?

You can't trust government and things that seem real on the surface are often manufactured crisis carried out to expand government power at the expense of liberty.

Someone (actually two someone's) mailed the governor tinfoil, "for your hat", which triggered an investigation. Yep, that's a great use of government money.
