Yeah, I know. That is why I said these training exercises have been going on for years. Decades even.

Agreed.

One of the questions that's come up is--Has the governor of Texas formally asked the Texas State Guard to monitor the exercises in the past? As a resident of Texas can you answer that?

According to published reports this is the first time the governor has asked.

Why does it matter?

Do you really think the Texas State Guard monitired military exercises in the past without orders to do so?

Why does it matter?

Because you've been making a gigantic stink about it, and I posted evidence that yes, the governor specifically asked the State Guard to monitor the exercises.

And for the third time, I will tell you the governor didn't have to be talked into anything. It's routine and has been for 15 years. Contending he was is your own conspiracy theory.

Show me in Abbott's own words that the only reason he has ordered the state guard to monitor those exercises is to address the concerns of conspiracy theorists.

Now you say, what does it matter? Make up your mind.

Do you really think the Texas State Guard monitired military exercises in the past without orders to do so?

Orders from the general that runs the Texas State Guard, but apparently not from the governor.

The stink comes from the conspiracy theory that the only reason the governor has ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor the exercises is because of conspiracy theorists fearing martial law , or some such, and that he has never done so before. This is a lie.

The commander-in-chief of the Texas State Guard is the Governor of Texas. The General has no authority to use the State guard for anything without the permission of the governor. The Texas State Guard has monitored many military exercise the the past 2 decades. All with the express permission of, or at the orders of, the Governor of Texas.

Surely you understand the chain of command of a military organization?

Again, the first sentence of the governor's letter:

"To address concerns of Texas citizens"...

Yes, and surely you know what a "general order" or "standing order" is?

Do you have a problem with the Governor addressing the concerns of Texas citizens?

He ordered the Texas state Guard to monitor this military exercise, just like our governor has done many times in the past. Always for the same reasons, to address the concerns of and for the safety and security of the citizens of Texas.

Nothing new here at all.

Except your very own conspiracy theory. Not your usual forte'.

COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. (a) The governor is the commander-in-chief of the Texas military forces, except any portion of those forces in the service of the United States. The governor has full control and authority over all matters relating to the Texas military forces, including organization, equipment, and discipline.

(b) On delegation of the authority by the governor, the adjutant general may order all or part of the Texas military forces to state training and other duty if funding has been provided in the General Appropriations Act or volunteer resources are available.
(c) On delegation of the authority by the governor, the adjutant general may order all or part of the Texas military forces to state training and other duty if requested by a federal, state, or local governmental entity and the entity authorizes reimbursement of the costs to this state.

GOVERNOR'S AUTHORITY. (a) The governor has full control and authority over the Texas State Guard.

Call me crazy but I support our nations elite fighting forces getting good realistic training. Train like you fight. I'm sure you've heard that before. I live in Virginia Beach and there are people that complain about the constant jet noise. I've grown up around the sound of F-14's and F-18's buzzing around at night and I find it kind of soothing in a weird way. My Governor doesn't bow to the these whiners and I respect that.

Train like you fight, huh? Isn't that exactly what they're doing, training to fight American citizens on American soil?

Absolutely. That's exactly what they are doing. It really couldn't be anything else. You've shown me the error of my ways.

That would be nice but I have my doubts that you'd ever betray the state and come to the defense of the constitution and the country.

Oh, so now you're saying he DID order the State Guard to monitor the Army exercise to placate conspiracy theorists. Glad to see you come around.

He ordered the Texas state Guard to monitor this military exercise, just like our governor has done many times in the past.

"Many times in the past"? Previously you said "every time in the past". You're slipping. And it's never been established that the governor has ever done this before. In fact, I quoted two sources that said this time is the first time the governor has done so.

Nothing new here at all.

LOL!

Doing your Zaac imitation simply means you've lost the argument. I understand.

Everybody who's read this thread knows who lost this argument.

I know you will want the last word so go ahead and make your concession post.

Yep. I was cheering for the Empire in the Star Wars movies as well.

No, I don't believe that. I imagine you were to busy identifying with the "good guys" to learn the central lesson of those movies though.

And that lesson was, you might ask?

You can't trust government and things that seem real on the surface are often manufactured crisis carried out to expand government power at the expense of liberty.

Someone (actually two someone's) mailed the governor tinfoil, "for your hat", which triggered an investigation. Yep, that's a great use of government money.
