Jesus din't specify, nor did his Father, a method of execution, as far as I know. I only know he commanded it. And I do not support execution for those who insult, or refuse to convert, to my brand of faith. Your statement was dishonest, full of hate, and not even remotely relevant to the conversation. In other words, what we've come to expect from you.
Did Jesus advocate the stoning of the woman caught in adultery?
What Jesus did always seemed to be in direct contradiction to what the world did.
The world wants to hang a thief on a cross? That's okay. The King of Kings says you're forgiven and even though this unrighteously vengeful world wants to take the life it didn't give to you, TODAY you shall be with Me in Paradise!
Ahh yes. See your edits. Good attempt to cover.
The love that is so often displayed by the "church". Praise God that His love doesn't resemble that.
In other words "how dare you put my less than Christ-loving demeanor on blast? I should be able to act however and say whatever I want without someone pointing out my actions as unChristlike".
Nice try. Where were the witnesses ? Where was the man involved ? Seems like Jesus stopped a lynching.
So what ?
That is adding to Christ's words, a GRAVE sin, and you should be ashamed. I hope the Holy Spirit convicts you of your childish attitude towards Christ's words.
You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. 2 And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things. 3 Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things? 4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Romans 2:1-4
Indicating you are not aware that God's directive was for the wronged family of the deceased to cast the first stone in the execution ... and He didn't add "you who are without sin" to that one, either.
Zaac - why do all humans die? We have all been given the death penalty as the result of sin.
If given a choice, my first would be accidental overdose at the hospital. Second would be drowning. Based on past experiences with their painlessness.
He didn't give me options though in how my body passes on. That I know of. Given my medical stuff, I have a pretty solid idea, barring an accident or violence. I don't walk around angry that I will die. I don't think murderers walk around angry about it either. Like everyone else, they just try to avoid the inevitable. Some more than others. Some are fine with it, others desperately seek a way out.
Still, we all die. One way or another, we've all been sentenced to go through physical death.
1.
I say if people want to build a psychiatric hospital for the death row inmates, let them do so on their own land, with their own funds, and volunteer and/or pay for the whole thing WITHOUT using my tax dollars.
I wonder how many libs would be willing to donate their own land, time, and money?
2.
The convict did not have cruel or unusual punishment.
Perhaps those who think so should research torture methods used in the Middle Ages, when prisoners died on the rack or guillotine.
3.
No, the USA should not get rid of the death penalty.
Again, those who want the prisoners to have a life sentence with air-conditioning, central heating, medical care, 3 hots and a cot, etc. should do so on their own dime.
Otherwise, they need to stop preaching "compassion" with my tax dollars.
Zaac -- I gotta say, I'm quite surprised at you. You misused scripture not once, but twice.
Improper application of the adulteress; she was guilty of adultery, but she was also being used by the pharisees. After defusing the trap laid for Him, Jesus then told her "go and sin no more."
Second, your pious statement about Jesus not condemning the thief, but telling him he would be in paradise, is all well and nice; but what about the other thief?
The Cali libs have the money to do this, ask Obama, he did six more fund raising speeches in three days here in Cali this week. Three in the Bay area, and three in Hollywood.
I do not like my tax money going to attend to the mental health needs of murders. Without appearing to be cold, most of them are border line crazy, and if they need counseling to adjust to being executed, toooo bad!
I like your ideas, and it should go for the illegal children and thugish gangsters coming from down south. If Obama and his liberal buds and socialistic types want to harbor these children, let them do it on their own dime!
That inmate who died and suffered in Texas last month shot the girl point blank, and while she laid there and died, he ordered his gang member buds to throw here in the shallow grave and bury her while she was still alive!
If these murders suffer a little, it may be payback
karma!
Great points, and I fully agree and think along the same lines. If more young folks feared prison as being something other than "Club-Med" and knew the death penalty would be enforced in a very timely manner, there may be less crime and murder'
That argument, valid or not, won't accomplish anything. Those arguing against lethal injection are winning. If states offer a choice of methods, do you really think the majority of inmates are going to reject that method? I don't, because the majority of people realize the claims against it are bogus.
So it would force people to fight for what they really want - abolishing the death penalty, rather than continuing to attack and delay executions already scheduled, then try to sue over them and such.
Why wouldn't God's people be sympathetic to the criminal? Why wouldn't God's people plead to Him for mercy on the death-sentenced
criminal's behalf instead almost seeming elated that another life is taken?
