Here anther KJVO argument will be taken apart. One of the KJVO'ist favorite argument is MV's have taken out Testament. So first here are the facts. Times Testament is used in the Bible.
KJV=13 verses, 14 times
ASV=2 verses, 2 times
ESV=0 verses, 0 times
Darby=2 verses, 2 times
God's Word=1 verse, 1 time
Douay-Rheims Bible=27 verses, 30 times
Geneva Bible=22 verses, 26 times
Now most MV's translate 'testament' as the other alternative 'covenant'. For instance ESV=29 verses, 32 times it has 'covenant'. Now this is where it gets interesting the KJV actually translates the Greek word " dee-ath-ay'-kay= a contract. covenant, testament. " 'convenant' more times than it does 'testament'. Compare.
KJV= Testament in 13 verses and 14 times.
KJV= Covenant in 19 verses and 21 times.
So the KJV didn't have a preface they translated it both ways in differant passages. The MV's such as the ESV, chose to use consistency in how they translated this word.

Dear friend,
Why are you not in bed this hour of the night? :eek:
An interesting observation, nonetheless. Thank you. Now go to bed!

twice as good as the Anglican Bible :confused:
BTW, the first definition in my dictionary
for "testament" is:
Testament - a covenant, especially one between God and man -
Ed,
Your dictionary may imply that a testament is a covenant, however, the bible says otherwise.
Scripturally, the New Testament is the blood sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ which takes away the sin of the WORLD on an individual basis (John 1:29).
The New Covenant is with the house of Israel and the house of Judah (see Jeremiah 31:31). The specifics of this New Covenant is spelled out in Jeremiah 31:33-34. This covenant is with a NATION, not individuals. -
Yea well the kjVersion uses 'covenant' in the NT more times than it does 'testament'.
Example Hebrews 13:20
"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant." KJV
Doesn't sound like Paul is talking about Israel here. Your thought on this issue is wrong. Way to go Bro. Ed.

This inconsistency of receptor words (which in some cases is warranted) for the same original laguage word(s) is commom in the KJV.
The biggest mystery : Holy Ghost vs Holy Spirit.

The Old Testament is called the "Old Testament" because its primary theme is the old covenant.
The New Testament is called the "New Testament" because its primary theme is the new covenant. -
Rom. 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

I have never seen this argument used nor ever used it.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. -
• The truths in the letter to the Hebrew Christians are true regardless of the nationality of the reader.
Those who argue that the King James translation of the Bible is suitable for today’s readers need to wake up from their fairytale dream state.
