Bottom line is, if the death penalty is good enough for God, it ought to be good enough for us.

Can,
It is true, God never dropped the death penalty with Grace.
Also, because of the liberal thinking, and emotionalism, is why God's people had so much problems, in Old Testament History. And why we are having so many problems today in America.
It is better to stand up for conservatism, then to fall into liberalism! :D
And by the way. The murderers, and child molesters get the chair, not the boat! -
The death penalty is good enough for Marxist China, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and a few other rogue states.
Somehow, I don't think it's God at work in maintaining the death penalty. -
I suppose you advocate a return to a Monarchy and the continuation of Slavery? What was good for the Israelites 3000 years ago often no longer applies to modern society.

Can,
Since when do we base our beliefs and politics on what the rest of the world is doing? As far as us and Japan being the only ones, well that maybe true! Because we still have some common sense. :D
And we are being more humane in our death penalty then God was. God wants them stoned, or millstone hung around their neck and thrown into the lake.
Just because YOU FEEL a certain way, does not negate God's Word! -
You conveniently ignored this.
-
Can,
But there is biblical slavery! :D -
Come again? We don't take prisoners of war and force them to work for us. The law in today's society is intended to protect all equally. If one doesn't like the job they are doing in today's society, they can quit. How is this anything close to slavery? And you still ignored the Monarchy statement.

If you have any doubts about the validity of the death penalty, read a few books by FBI profilers and find out what these serial killers are really like inside.
I watched an episode of Cold Case Files last night a guy who had been convicted of murdering an 8 yo boy when he was 15 was sentenced to life in prison, after serving 21 years he was released and went on to kill at least 6 other known victims. One of whom was a kid who was in a juvenile corrections facility where this pedophile serial killer managed to gain employment as a guard.
Get real folks serial killers never ever reform. If they aren't imprisoned indefinately or executed when they are released they will simply perfect their technique and go on killing.
One good book by an FBI profiler is Mind Hunter by John Douglas, he founded and started the FBI Profiler Unit. If you are at all queasy or easily offended I would recommend you skip the first page of the book and read on to find out how many of these nuts are really wandering around and what they are really doing.
I'm Pro death penalty, no doubt about it. Now as to the execution of Karla Faye Tucker, she sits in peace in heaven if her conversion was real. If not she found herself in a much hotter place than Texas. I personally believe she is walking the streets of heaven.

Has anybody but me ever noticed that those who are against the death penalty are usually FOR murder of the innocent unborn (generally speaking)?
And how the 10 commandments (red herring) is usually thrown in to justify against the death penalty about thou shalt not kill, but conveniently overlook the fact that "kill" in the 10C pertains to murder (there IS a difference)?
(sigh)
And since when do we care what Europe does? Oh, that's right, when the Supreme Court justices recently decided to look at popular opinion, polls, and European views when ruling on US Constitutionality! :( (double sigh) -
Yeah, it's true. And those who want to keep kids alive in the womb are so often happy to kill them after they are born.
In fact, there's a difference between "anti-abortion" and "pro-life".
It's not necessarily a sin when the state kills a murderer, but in practical terms, it's both ineffective, and often a mistake. The pro-death penalty governor of Illinois called a halt to all executions after numerous prisoners on death row turned out to be innocent. In Texas, in the last few decades, a large number of condemned prisoners were cleared before they could be killed. We will never know how many were not fortunate enough, but it's foolish to deny that we saved all of them.
How many innocent people would you be willing to kill, to be sure you killed murderers? -
God Bless........Alex

Can,
You have a habit of looking at it backwards.
Killing people to prove killing people is wrong solves nothing.
We execute people for murdering people. It is a punishment for their crime against God and humanity! -
-
Gal,
That is a totally different subject, and not even close to being related.
And those who want to keep kids alive in the womb are so often happy to kill them after they are born
Abortion is murdering innocent life.
Death Penalty is the punishment for murdering innocent life.

You've illustrated my point; "Pro-life" and "anti-abortion" are not the same thing.
-
Besides, it is just common knowledge that God is a conservative! :D -
100% sounds pretty effective to me.
On the other hand, how many innocent, law abiding citizens' lives are you willing to put at risk for the sake of saving one innocent person from the gallows?
