1. KJVOist: "I know that one of the writers of the NIV is homosexual."
The misunderstanding is about one Virginia Ramey Mollenkott,
a stylist who worked with the NIV until she was found out.
She had nothing to do with the content. The worse error here
is that men of old were inspired of God to write the
holy scirptures. So we can say "Paul is one of the
writers of the Bible". In reality it was God who wrote
the NIV. So this statement (were it not so tragic) is
comic boiling down to "God is gay" :(
2. KJVOist: "This is why I stopped using my KJV and got a KJB."
See this site:
Believers Beware of Counterfeit King James Bibles
Tee hee! the KJB (King James Bible) is NOT the same as
any KJV (King James Version). So i've not been able to
find out just what the KJB is. The KJV might be some spiritual
truth and not physically available?

3. KJVOist use the AV1611
The statement in #2 above was by a KJVOist with the
moniker of "AV1611". He uses something i call
the KJV1769. In 1762 the KJV was authorized to
be printed at Oxford, the British Crown getting
part of each sale. In 1769 the KJV was authorized
to be printed at Cambridge, the British Crown getting
part of each sale.
The 13 Colonies were almost at war in those days
with the Britisth Crown. In 1776 the war broke out
in full force. In 1783 the war was over. I think
from 1762 to at least 1783 there were not a lot
of KJV1762s and KJV1763s inported into what became
the United States of America. However, there were
American copies made (no money sent to the crown).
The history of these copies is largely undocumented.
I choose to combine the KJV1762 edition, the KJV1769
edition, and the American rip-offs into one hand
designator: "KJV1769".
The AV = Authorized Version. The KJV1762 edition was authorized
by the British Crown, the KJV1769 Cambridge edition
was authorized by the British Crown. The American
ripoffs were NOT authorized by the British Crown.
I.E. nobody i know with the moniker or partial
moniker "AV1611" really does NOT use an authorized version.
Can you spell "hypocrite"? "Hypocrite" means a person
who is living a lie. -
Right you are Ed.
Here is how they can become honest men and women, go to this site and get the real thing!
-
Bro. Ed,
I went to the site you had listed in your first post and it was the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Thanks for giving me a good laugh today. -
Yes Brother Pastorjeff.
I was hoping that i could find a program
that could compare two of the on-line
KJV1769 sources. We already have one know
difference documented here.
The whole KJVO castle falls down when
you see different KJVs. I have three on my
computer desk alone:
KJV1611
KJV1769*
KJV1873
*it is hard to know what kind of
KJV1769. The KJV1769s tend not to identify
themselves :( -

The problem with those "Beware of Counterfeit King James Bibles" people is that they don't accept certain spelling corrections/changes because those updaters had no authority to determine what needed to be corrected, but they accept other spelling corrections/changes despite those updaters also having no authority to determine what needed to be corrected. In reality, that whole thing is just another excuse for some KJV-onlyists to feel more pious than their neighbor (even though their neighbor is also a KJV-onlyist). Actually, that's probably the driving force behind KJV-onlyism in general.

at 1 Corinthians 4:13, and "about" instead of "above" at 2 Corinthians 12:2. Some KJV's published in the early 1800's had some of these
renderings from the 1769.
Most present KJV's are based on later KJV editions such as the 1806, 1833, and 1845.
Scrivener referred to "the standard text in the Oxford reprint of 1833" under the direction of Edward Cardwell" (AUTHORIZED EDITION, p. 35).
Scrivener also pointed out that some "errata"
in Blayney's 1769 edition "held their ground until they were corrected before 1845 under the direction of Bishop Thomas Turton" (p. 33, footnote 2).
There are over five different KJV editions
currently in print: the Oxford edition, the Cambridge edition, the 1873 Cambridge edition
edited by Scrivener and reprinted in the 2002
Zondervan KJV STUDY BIBLE, the American Bible Society KJV edition, the KJV edition in THE OPEN BIBLE, the edition in THE KING JAMES RED LETTER BIBLE edited by a KJV defender, and the KJV edition in THE COMPANION BIBLE. -
Ed, just to clarify, I might add that Authorized Version meant nothing more than a "printer authorization". The crown would only allow so many printers to print the KJV, those printers would place "Authorized Version" in big letters on the title page so that people who saw it knew that the crown had authorized them to print it. It had NOTHING to do with the quality or any other issue about the translation.
I think we ought to buy all the KJVO the real duplicates of the 1611 (now being printed for ease of reading in New Times Roman font, spelling, of course, remains that of 1611 and so do marginal notes), complete with apocrypha and make them stick to their words: "The AV1611". -

want us to believe that AV means
authorized by God.
This strawman is easy to demolish -
-
I just took the time to read the link that Ed pointed out. If you have not had time to read this (whether or not you are KJVo), I highly suggest you read it.
It will enlighten you. It certainly did me---to the level of compentency of a typical KJVo!
Amazing what you can find on the internet, isn't it?
Ed, based on the above article -- I don't know how you can add this to your list, but it appears that in order to be a true believer of the KJVo (level 4 or 5 -- whatever its called -- being a word-for-word believer) that your IQ must be a least 85 (or lower). ;) -
Man, all this time I thought "AV" = Anglican Version.
It sure wasn't the Baptist or Puritan English version! That was the blessed Geneva Bible. -
It all boils down to the fact that "things that are different are not the same UNLESS IT'S CONTRARY TO THE KJVO MYTH."
-
want us to believe that AV means
authorized by God.</font>[/QUOTE]I have actually been told exactly that by someone on another board. According to this person God caused James to commission the KJV so it would be called "Authorized". The term "Authorized" was God's name for it, not James'.
Um...OK...whatever... -
One of my favorite KJVO myths comes from another site I was on earlier this year
Romans 13:1...
Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For ther is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
13:2 Therefore, whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God, and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
See, everybody, there it is. James I was on the throne by God's appointment. "AV" means Authorized Version. He authorized it. Since his authority was from God, God authorized the KJV. Therefore those that do not use the KJV only are rejecting the authority of a king, and therefore God Himself.
Go ahead, have fun with this one...I know I did :D -
Fortunately, we are no longer under the British Crown. :D
-
Kinda like the "Jacob" myth. Who's ever heard THAT one?
In case ya haven't, it goes like this:
1. The name "James" is derived from "Jacob".
2. James 1 was a KING. All kings are kings by GOD'S WILL, and should therefore always be obeyed.
3. Jacob was patriarch of God's chosen nation, and James 1 was patriarch of the Bible in his people's language. Actually, the KJV is the "King Jacob Bible"! Just as God made Jacob a patriarch and James a king of England, He made the King Jacob Bible the king of books! -
Sounds like the ol' "Go thou and do likewise" sermon...you know...The preacher that would turn to a random Scripture to preach His sermons, believing that the text was from God. One day he turned to the Scripture, "Judas hung himself." Taken aback, he reopened his Bible to find, "Go thou and do likewise." Again, taken aback, he tried once more. Opening God's Word, he looked down and his eyes rested upon the words, "And what thou doest do quickly." :D
