How many folks here besides me have actually worked extensively with migrant Mexican workers and attempted to evangelize them?
FTR, I am opposed to their breaking the law though I believe we should enable more Mexicans to come in legally through some manner of streamlined procedures. We could possibly even direct them to companies or places where they were needed to fill jobs.
OTOH, everyone seems to be pretty short-sighted on this thing. Mexico is an oil rich, developing company that happens to also share a long border with us... being intentionally nasty to them may come back to haunt us.

Well, in that case, we should make Mexico the 51st State.

That was a very thoughtful, thought provoking answer....

Indeed. It is now even the United States of Mexico.

Ah, the old Manifest Destiny routine. Well, some old ideas are the best ones. :D Just think of all the problems that would be solved! And jelly beans would once again be under the scrutiny of the FDA. :D

We don't need mass deportations. What we need is for the border to be protected properly. Once we are able to control the border then we can start deporting the illegals that we find as we find them. At the same time we fix the problem with our border we need to put business that employ illegal aliens on notice. They have one month to fix their problem. After that time any employer that chooses to continue employ illegal aliens will be prosecuted to the full extent of the laws that are already in place.
An added benifit of controling our southern border is that it will also put a major hurtin on drug runners. -
