The press is full of speculation of the cause of Arafat's death. According to Independent Media Review Analysis, the French put no cause of death on the death certificate. The Arabs are saying that Israel poisoned Arafat somehow. More likely is that Arafat had aids or was poisoned by other Arabs if he did not have aids.
Did Arafat die of aids?

Probably OLD AGE!
He looked old in the 60's, and I think his true age is somewhere close to 80 years.
So put your mind at rest, no one lives the natural life forever. -
I have seen some reports on AIDS as well. The theory of poison by the Israelis has been ruled out medically and is ridicules, but everything is blamed on the Jews. I believe he lived this long because Israel chose to let him die of natural causes opposed to the martyr death he hoped for which would strengthen his cause. Although it did seem that our media was trying hard to make him in to a martyr. Only time will tell the truth of his death. And the cause of his death is significant because to die a martyr v. natural causes has entirely different meanings/rewards in the Koran. And it would also influence his followers differently.

Th eonly source I have seen concerning the AIDS idea was from Isreal Insider

Reportedly, The New York Times carried an article on the subject Sunday. I have not seen or read it.
It is strange that the French refused to announce what the illness was or why Arafat had to be treated in France or why the cause of death did not appear on the death certificate.
There are plenty of rumors that Arafat was homosexual. -
There are plenty of rumours on many topics. I will not be surprised if this is factual - but the evidence is just not there yet so we are better advised to wait and see.

HERE'S an interesting article.
-
The man was suffering from Parkinsons as well as a number of heart-related problems... let him rest. -
Yes, we should let the terrorist who murdered thousands of people rest in "peace." Thanks for the sick humor today, JaG, but I seriously doubt he is "resting" in eternity with Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, and Pol Pot.
-
I don't agree with "let him rest," but do agree that we should hold off on the AIDS thing till we have a source with some measure of credibility.

Well, some French minister of health--and you Europeans would know more about that than us cowboys and farmers--said that Arafat was not poisoned.
Perhaps the French are too afraid of a terrorist attack to tell the truth about what happened. Some doctors say the symptons are those of aids. The French should tell the public why Arafat had to be taken to France and what he died of.
We just do not know unless the French tell us. -
-
Whatever he died of to me is irrelevant. Hopefully, with him out of the way maybe this can change for the better over there. At least we can pray for that to happen.
-
Who cares what he died from? What difference does it make? No one with credibility and sanity thought Arafat was a "good guy." He was a terrorist, and the only unfortunate thing is that this didn't happen about 25 years ago. Countless lives could have been saved.

One reason he was moved to the French Hospital is because in France, they are not allowed to disclose 'cause of death' without permission.
He was dying of an 'undisclosed blood disease'. I heard reports on FOXNEWS analysts saying it seemed viral to them.
It has always seemed to me like he had AIDS. He went through many of the same symptoms, such as rapid weight loss and rapid health decay.
I have also heard from different Israelie publications that Arafat was a homosexual and had sexual relationships with his bodyguards. It all seems to make sense to me - an evil man in power who is extremely paranoid. The only problem is that he was also considered an Islamic spiritual leader, and in Islam, homosexuality is a cursed sin - so that would not bode well to Arafat's legacy. -

Please point out where I made that accusation, CMG.
I am not European and Arafat is not popular with me.
I have not even tried to guess how he died - there is no proof on the table yet that he died of AIDS so can't we just leave it at that?
And besides, why is that an issue? It is enough for me that he in many ways is the "Father of Modern Terrorism." -
Folks, the guy was an old guy, and had been ill for a while. He likely died of natural causes. The obit section of the newspaper this weekend listed dozens of people who died of natural causes. If we want to make a contribution to the world, we should start looking for a cure for natural causes.

Arafat may get a bum rap to be called the papa of modern terrorism. Recently in the West Bank the IRA was building the bombs to explode on the Jews. It just might be that the papa of modern terrorism is some Irish Catholic with a pocketful of American dollars.
