dispen4ever said:xdx, long hair was an issue back then, as was covering for the head. Don't reduce these things to some formula that has to be worked out. Whether hair is long or short is not the core issue. The core issue is "God, what do you require of me?" That question is answered quite clearly in the two commandments that Christ presented: Love the Lord your God, and your neighbor as yourself. There is no requirement in there to check to see if your neighbor (or God) has long hair, short hair, or no hair. :godisgood:

Yes, this is definitely what I would call long.

gekko said:Jesus didn't have long hair - and he wasn't skinny either. he had muscles - jeepers - he was a carpenter after all!
then you next need to determine whether or not nature itself is teaching you that your hair is too long.
You trip over it and bust your nose, duh.gekko said:ok. nature teaches me jack all. its GOD who teaches. doh!
how does nature teach me whether or not my hair is too long? when it gets stuck in tree branches when i'm climbin a tree?

To which, were it not a rhetorical question, I'd have to answer, "well, no."Rufus_1611 said:It's the inspired words of God that tell you...
"Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" - 1 Corinthians 11:14
Jim1999 said:The more vital question regarding Jesus' hair is, Did he part it on the right, left or in the centre? If it was curly, did he comb it out straight?
This is the very nonsense that Jesus addressed all during His short lifetime. When oh when will we get the message? There are far more important matters in the CHristian walk than whether I wear shoes, trainers, white socks or black.

xdisciplex said:But if hair length doesn't matter why does Paul mention it? This makes no sense!
Either this was Paul's opinion. Then we have a problem because this would mean that Paul inserted his own stuff into the bible and we cannot really be sure what's from God and what's from Paul.
Or Paul simply wrote down what God wanted and this means that God has a problem with long hair.
There are only these 2 options. But the question is what is long hair? When does hair become long?
Is this here considered long for example?

xdisciplex said:Are you saying Jesus is ugly? Because if he was not good looking before he died then he also isn't good looking now because if his face totally changed nobody would have recognized him and this would mean that Jesus, as he is now, is ugly and I cannot imagine this. Why should he have been born ugly?
I rather think Isaiah means that when he was crucified he didn't look good anymore which is understandable.
