Anti-Gun Senator Shoots Intruder
February 14, 2011
"State Senator R.C. Soles (D - NC) Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City, N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday....."
"....The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim. ...In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do as I say and not as I do" Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting......"

Hypocrite. Typical liberal democrat.

This is not the first time something like this has happened, nor even the most egregious example. Carl Rowan was a columnist for the Washington Post who for years campaigned to ban handguns, and helped get the law passed banning them in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Then in 1988, intruders trespassed on his property, and he pulled out the gun he possessed in direct violation of the law he himself had pushed for, and shot at them. The liberal elite love to pass laws severely restricting individual liberty for the masses, but never consider that they themselves should have to live by those laws. As Mark Belling, Milwaukee talk radio host and occasional guest host for Rush Limbaugh, has put it, "To be a liberal is to be a hypocrite."

Is there anyone out there who can call into the Stephanie Miller show and tell her about this... -
No different than the global warming hypocrisy...
Al Gore jetting around the world and leaving his limo idling outside while he gives speeches telling everyone else to live in mud huts with no electricity to save the polar bears...
Cheryl Crowe telling everyone to use one square of toilet paper to save the glaciers while living on a four house compound with an artifical river connecting her swimming pools...
The list of examples could be endless. -

not-quite-true story
Did some research to find the background article; found out this was originally published in 2009. Then further found a Snopes article that discredits this thing.
Soles actually received an "A" grade from the NRA for 3 years prior to the incident.

So where is the link proving that he was not anti-gun?
-
From every thing I can find, it appears his record is mixed.
Local N. Carolina ratings have him rated poor in the past and the NRA has him rated above average to good.
I wonder what local organizations know that the NRA doesn't. -
Pretty much covers all of it. A Google search for "senator soles intruder" will identify more. -
Shame on me
....and the sad thing with me is that I have personally sworn in the past 'NEVER AGAIN'! But yet I've done it again.
Verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating, verify before repeating,...........
My wife sent me this after I asked her to when she had told me about reading it from one of her facebook aquaintances, and I never even thought about checking it out, I just passed it along. Again, shame on me.
HOWEVER, when it comes to the issue of second amendment rights the hypocrisy of the left is blatant and well documented, the gist of the OP, 'Do AS I Say, Not As I Do' still stands. Excerpts:
Second Amendment Hypocrites: Senators Schumer and Feinstein Pack Heat
“... there are outspoken opponents of gun ownership, such as Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Diane Feinstein (D-CA), who are carrying concealed weapons...The mainstream news media [read LIBERAL media] have been aware that several antigun proponents are carrying concealed firearms but have failed to expose this hypocrisy....Not only does Schumer carry a handgun, the New York City Police Department also provides armed escorts for the good senator... Pistol License records shows that Senator Schumer possesses an "unrestricted" pistol permit, a rarity in New York City...then we have Senator Diane Feinstein on the Left Coast who possesses something more rare than a conservative Republican in San Francisco -- an unrestricted concealed weapons permit....Washington-based columnist, Carl Rowan, often wrote about the ills of firearms ownership. Until, that is, he shot and wounded a teenager who trespassed on his property... the loudmouth entertainer, Rosie O'Donnell, who once ran roughshod over conservative actor Tom Selleck because of his stance supporting the Second Amendment. Although Ms. O'Donnell doesn't carry a gun, she has three armed bodyguards who protect her, her wife and her children....”

10/02 Boxer: Guns Are OK For Protecting Me
“Don't misunderstand me, please. I'm delighted that Boxer, Lieberman and many other anti-Second Amendment, anti-self-defense, gun-grabbers came to their senses -- at least briefly -- and voted for legislation to allow pilots to arm themselves. But, until they extend this last-line-of-defense argument to private individuals, these folks remain hypocrites on the gun issue.”

The "States` Rights" Ruse
“Hypocrisy, thy name is Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Dick Durbin, Frank Lautenberg. Throw in Michael Bloomberg, the Violence Policy Center, the Brady Campaign, The New York Times, The Washington Post and a host of other big media gun-ban sock puppets as well.
Hypocrisy has found a new political definition--“States’ Rights.”
They are the same national “gun control” social engineers who brought us the 50-state Clinton gun ban; who demand that every gun owner in every state be federally controlled--with licensed owners universally required to provide data on all their privately owned guns to feed federal computers. They are the same people who would shut down gun shows nationwide . . . and who would use the federal courts to sue the law-abiding firearm industry into oblivion.
Those same people are now hiding behind their newfound “states’ rights” to prevent enactment of a straightforward amendment introduced by Sen. John Thune of South Dakota and Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, to create national Right-to-Carry reciprocity.”

Heheh, methinks the rabbit hole goes a lot deeper than just the shooting of an 'intruder'.

Our former gun-hating, boy-loving old state senator that keeps on getting in the news (was charged last year for shooting one of them in the leg) is at it again! For your reading pleasure:
quote:
TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) - A gun shot was fired on the property of former State Senator R.C. Soles last night in Tabor City.
According to Captain Dean Foley of the Tabor City Police Department, Soles called police around 9:30. Officers spotted B.J. Wright on Soles property and chased him. Wright is wanted on a $1 million bond for vandalism on the Soles property.
During that time, Soles fired one shot from the doorway of his home, according to Captain Foley, but it's unclear if he shot at Wright.
Police officers chased Wright in the Tabor City area, but were not able to catch up with him. Two officers were injured in the process, one tore an ACL and the other physically ran into a fence.
Tabor City Police are continuing the search for Wright today. Tabor City Police Chief Donald Dowless tells WECT.com that it's obvious some people are helping Wright elude police and they will face serious charges if caught.
Two weeks ago, police say Wright went to Soles property on a weekend and destroyed lamps and a window. This allegedly took place only hours after Wright was released from jail. He posted a bond that evening after his arrest, but a judge increased the bond to $1 million the next week after Wright failed to show up to a court appearance. They have been chasing him off and on since that point.
Wright's history with Soles precedes this month. In late summer 2009, Soles shot Kyle Blackburn on his property after he said Blackburn and Wright were attempting to break down his door. Soles ended up pleading guilty to a misdemeanor assault.
The state's longest serving Senator, Soles, retired at the end of his term last year.
