Conservative evangelical leader James Dobson has resigned as chairman of Focus on the Family but will continue to play a prominent role at the organization he founded more than three decades ago.

Of course the Dobson haters came out with a few comments:

Gay-rights and liberal groups issued statements Friday warning that Dobson is not leaving the scene. Americans United for Separation of Church and State portrayed the move as Focus on the Family "merely rearranging the deck chairs on its big, intolerant ship."

Good for him. I believe he is seventy-two, he has definitely earned the right to slow down a little if he so chooses.

I think its a wise and timely move. He will still keep importance and be present for advice and direction while others are screened and groomed and attention turns to see if God has ordained another to assume this calling. May God continue to bless him and us with his presence and good advice.

The newspaper article stated that his radio program may end up with several hosts, each in an areal of expertise.

May God's richest blessings be upon Dr. Dobson and FOTF! :applause:

I doubt that any one person and organization has done more to promote and defend the Biblical truths and values of God's first institution--the family--than have Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family.

I wish him many blessings and thank God for all of the years dedicated to family ministry.

We just finished up the Focus on Marriage seminar given by simulcast from FOTF today. It was wonderful.

Was this the one that used Gary Thomas? Thomas says on his site that we should be married to God. I find that weird; reminds me of the Catholic mystics (which he is into, btw).

That's weird. I didn't hear anything like that (but I wasn't in for the whole thing because I was doing the food for 200 people. LOL). Does it have anything to do with being the bride of Christ??

No, it's not about the church being the bride of Christ.

I am not saying he uses this for his marriage seminars but he has it on his site. I think it comes from his book, Sacred Pathways.

He says he has discovered "9 sacred pathways" or 9 "spiritual temperments." Why 9? How did he discover them? That's my question.

He says this on the same page:
It's better to discover the path God designed you to take, a path marked by growth and fulfillment, based on your unique spiritual temperament. Experience a new and dynamic relationship with God by learning to love Him according to the way He made you. In the Sacred Pathways seminar, Gary Thomas strips away the frustration of a one-size-fits-all- spirituality and guides you toward a distinctive journey of adoration. It's the difference between "dating " God and "being married " to God-a passionate, lifelong journey of intimacy with your Creator.

I have concerns with this because he also favorably refers to a woman who gets into some real mystical stuff with sex and God.
