Are you confusing the two candidates, McCain is the one who thought the economy was sound. Don't forget, McCain has big oil lobbyist in his campaign staff and they WERE his largest contributers.
Teach us economy RD, what would starting one well do for the price of gas today?
I really believe you are the one who doesn't get it when it come to the price of gas.
RD is correct. Obama wants the prices to remain high and give us relief from high prices by taking profits from the companies through what is known as "Windfall Profit Tax". Libs always use taxes to deter behavior such as in this case oil use.
And?
If you doubt that knowledge of more oil drilling will lower prices because of specualtions then you should school us as to how that works.
As soon as you said "Libs always" you explained the total perspective...
And so he has more incentive to keep gas prices high since he has favors and campaign contributions to repay.
Read my statement, I said TODAY. What will it do for the price of gas TODAY...
Secondly, you are counting on the owners of these new wells not to gouge us. You, the champion of free enterprise think setting satisfactory profit margins (greed) won't meet us at the pump?
I was just looking at how well Hybrid technology was doing and how much better it will get when the bulk of the horsepower starts coming from the electric motor. This should reduce America's dependency a little. And every little bit helps. Increasing miles per gallon with help the economy faster than drilling.
I think there is an energy source or use that is right under our noses. I agree with Obama that it's worth the investment to develop some of the current ideas as well as encourage Americans to bring forward new ideas. Drilling might be a good short term solution but it isn't the long term cure for our grand kids. We use more and more oil everyday so any drilling will in effect mean we may not increase dependency on foreign oil but I don't see it reducing it over time.
