to protect others from all enemies, foreign and domestic?
After the Rodney King abuse trial, the army was called in. Should that have been called Federal aggression also?
I keep asking this in the discussions on the civil war and I can't seem to get an answer from the pro-south advocates.
Perhaps a new thread should have already been started.
Does the Federal government have the right...

The national guard was called in to the South Central area of Los Angeles, because of rampant rioting that began within a few hours of the verdict. The LAPD did not have the numbers with which to combat the rioters and keep civil order. The National Guard was summoned by the State at the behest of local law wnforcement officials.
I remember it well because I live about 1/2 away from L.A. It wasn't exactly the finest hour in individual restraint. Definitely a case of "enemies domestic". -
Then clearly there was no federal aggression and Gunther's attempted argument is therefore mute.

Ken, that would be moot. Anyway, you missed the point. The Government has the right to squelch those who do not abide by the law.
Be honest here, you are a bitter libertarian who sees most of the government as against the people. -
By the way, in this case, I think your argument has been muted by the facts. -
Federalism is a curse, that's for certain. IF we would simply limit government on a national scale and handle 99.9% on the local level, we would be more of the democracy our founding fathers envisioned.
Am I radical or extreme for saying this? Read the Bill of Rights, LIMITING government and giving EVERYTHING not spelled out in that document to the STATES, not the FEDERALES.
The federales have taken rights, trampled rights and with jack-booted strides walked into every area of our life. So much for freedom.
Democrat or Republican (socialist party A or B) it makes no difference. We in the West are an independent sort and if we could get control of the missile silos at Warren AFB, there might be a 3rd revolutionary war . . . -
Politics aside, Romans 13 must govern the Christian. If it did, the south would have never rebelled. -
At least you admitting that the majority of people in the CSA were Christians. Thank you.
