Bodies lie wrapped at Memorial Medical Center in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (AP) -- The Louisiana attorney general's office subpoenaed 73 employees of Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday as part of its investigation of deaths at hospitals and nursing homes in the New Orleans area during and after Hurricane Katrina.
The subpoenas were "for all levels of personnel" and included doctors, nurses and support staff, said Kris Wartelle, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Charles Foti.
They included people who were at the hospital during the storm and its aftermath "or they knew something about it," Wartelle said.
On the Memorial campus, 34 patients died after the hospital was cut off by floodwaters, according to Tenet Healthcare Corp., which owns the hospital.

Once you start devaluing life you stop seeing the wrongness of such things.
-
Lets see how the story plays out.
</font>- Once you cut electric power and run off generators for a few days...</font>
- Once you are isolated and can't staff the facility for 24 hours a day; or have the same staff working non-stop for 72 hours or more.</font>
- Once you loose fresh running water service.</font>
Contrary to popular opinion America isn't Paradise; America, land of the free home of the whinners.

Hopefully, they'll get to the bottom of this.

I heard in some television news blurb that the reason for the investigation is that mercy-killing was discussed by several members of the hospital staff during the ordeal.

Sure is sad for everyone concerned.

Wonder when they'll subpoena the mayor and the governor?
-
Well, at least they didn't line up the wheelchairs in the hallway and leave them helpless to drown like the nursing home owners did. None of this should have happened & the mayor, governor, and FEMA are to blame.
