What do you think about this?:

To celebrate Earth Day, I'll go & cut down a tree. Then I'll have a spotted owl feast.:D

Of course, I'm joking.

I'm not an environmentalist, nor am I a tree hugger. If an endagered bird were to land in my yard & my cats were to make a meal out of it, then it wouldn't be my fault.

Earth Day is nothing more than a religious celebration to Mother Earth, Gaia. So, I won't be celebrating, but I do however enjoy greatly the many blessings God provides for us to take part of in the great outdoors.

1. Hunting - Anything that breathes that might be good to eat or need a good killing.

2. Fishing - Anything that swims that might be good to eat or need a good killing.

3. Camping - Love the outdoors.

Many outdoorsmen are extremely in touch with what God has blessed them with and take care of it. We do far more for the environment than all the PETA people and tree huggers do.

I am from an area, rural and dense with wildlife for which there is a need to kill, so they need a good killing.

It was mainly said as a "joke", but there are times when some sects within the wild kingdom need to be controlled and discarded with, without eating them or harvesting them for the purpose of just controlling, ie. coyotes and feral pigs. Coyotes you don't eat (or at least I don't) and some feral pigs are unfit for the table, so you let them lay or use them for another purpose entirely.

Did any of that make sense. And gar, you just catch and toss on the bank because they eat your game fish. They are hard to catch at times.

Well, what you stated is factual but I would not exalt the sport versus as God provided. I have hunted all my life and fished and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. I was first always thankful in being able to enjoy those things and again for whatever may have been provided me.

As you noted, we do these things with the full knowledge of being good stewards as God commanded. We don't set aside one day to worship the Earth as it may be or as some do.

Have a good one.

UPDATE: I see you clarified Shotgunwillie. Just remember hunters already have a bad reputation; though most have more love for wildlife than the pinko hippies who only claim to protect it.

I understand and agree with your assessment. Thanks :).

The Bulletin, a newspaper from Philadelphia has this on a co-founder of Earth Day....

Today is Earth Day, a holiday created to honor the planet and to raise the consciousness of man’s effect on the environment. Philadelphia has a very strong tie to this day. One of its native sons, Ira Einhorn, was a co-founder of the environmentalist jubilee.

But Mr. Einhorn has another line on his resume. In addition to being a environmental guru, he is the Unicorn Killer......

MacArthur "I've told environmentalists that if they think humanity is wrecking the planet, wait until they see what Jesus does to it." I wonder if there were environmentalist back before the FLOOD!

The modern environmentalist movement is the new home of the Communist Party. And "Earth Day" is their brain child for recruitment and grabbing private property.

I have always wondered why I feel strange trying to celebrate Earth Day.

I have also heard that if an eagle feather falls in your back yard, you can be sued for it. This womans daughter brought an eagle feather to school, then the mother was sued by the federal government as a result of it. Sued probably isn't the right word, fined is more like it. This happened in the late 1990's. Its stupid what we have allowed our government to come to.

While you hug your tree be sure to put a daisy on Comrade Linen's tomb in celebration of his birthday.

Is Comrade Linen the guy who started Linen N' Things?

(I know you meant Lenin).

The modern environmentalist movement is the new home of the Communist Party. And "Earth Day" is their brain child for recruitment and grabbing private property.

"They require long-term planning, massive investment in redesigning and re-engineering, collective input, husbanding resources, social investment in research for long-term sustainability, and major conservation efforts...

I don't know about the communist party being involved (I am not sure they have that much anyone wants anymore) but as a former New Ager, I can tell you that the environmental movement very much runs on New Age oil (ha!).

Jesus can do what He wants with the Earth. It belongs to Him. And He has given man the privilege of being stewards of His Earth. I don't worship the Earth but I take it very seriously that I am a steward of it.

I'm not arguing with you but why should we be fanatical about most other things (some are fanatical about tithing) but not about being good stewards over the Earth?
We shouldn't. I am referring to the stupid nut jobs liberals like Al Gore when I made that comment
