Humm, consider it's doctrine on Salvation:
Romans 10:9 (ESV = English Standard Version,
color formatting by Ed)
because, if you confess with your mouth that
Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.

I'm saying, like all valid English translations, that
the ESV is the Written Word of God, the Holy Bible,
preserved by Divine Providence for it's target readers.
The ESV is inerrant. -
I have to say that I'm enjoying my ESV. :D

Ditto....

Well then, Bro. Ed, amen to that.

The rankings given were surprising.
1. NIV
2. NKJV
3. KJV
4. NLT
5. ESV
6. Reina Valera 1960
7. HCSB
8. NASB95
9. The Message
10. NIrV
I would have thought the ESV and the NASB95 would outsell the NLT. Something else that was surprising is that The Message is on the list at all. Go figure!

I see there are a few ESV fans here. Wonderful. Maybe we could start an ESV only group?

The ESV is the 8th main Bible from England.
So it is the one PURIFIED SEVEN TIMES.
Psalm 12:6 (Geneva Bible, 1587):
The wordes of the Lord are pure wordes, as the siluer,
tried in a fornace of earth, fined seuen folde.
Or in the purified version:Psalms 12:6 (ESV = English Standard Version):
The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined
in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
(Note the difference, in 1587 the furnace is
made OF the 'earth'; in the 21st century the furnace
is ON the 'ground'.)
Not to be confused with American translations which
may not even be sacred???
Psalm 12:6 (HCSB = Christian Standard Bible /Holman, 2003/ ):
The words of the Lord are pure words,
like silver refined in an earthen furnace,
purified seven times. -

Well, my AV from Cambridge ain't got no spines.
And it ain't even 'authorized'. It is however "Appointed
to be read in Churches". So I guess it is the
AV = Appointed Version?
But on the second page it says:
RIGHTS IN THE AUTHORIZED (KING JAMES)
VERSION OF THE BIBLE
ARE VESTED IN THE CROWN
/royal seal/
THIS BIBLE IS PUBLISHED BY
CAMBRIDE UNIVERSITY PRESS,
THE QUEEN'S PRINTER
UNDER ROYAL LETTERS PATENT.
(no date is given /but it is implied to be
since Queen Lizzie came/. there are no
translator footnotes).
