Sorry, not a spiritual but a melody. If that makes any difference. I don't know much about the music ministry, I'm a preacher/teacher.Anyway it can be found in most baptist hymnals.It is classified as being ancient. Here is the 1 and 3 lines. Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
walking or sleeping, thy presence my light
2
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise
Thou mine inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of heaven, my tresure Thou art. -
Mine would go on forever, I'll post one every once in a while.
The first is:
He Touched Me by BIll Gaither
This song has just touched my heart again and again with its words! -
He touched me,
Oh, he touched me
And, oh, the glory that filled my soul.
Sang it many times.
Glory. -
Be Thou My Vision Many thanks weeping prophet. Here are the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th verses.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Music name is "Slane".
Now for an unpaid ad...I love the version of this one on the Mandate/All For Jesus CD, worth a listen everyone.

"And, oh, the joy that floods my soul"?
~Teresa~ -
For me it's a tie between "Amazing Grace" and "And Can It Be."
Rev. G -
So ashamed. :(
Yes, Teresa, that's right. It's JOY.
Sigh. Brain malfunction.
"Something happened
and now I know
He touched me
And made me whole."

I have a new favorite Christian song. IT's called "A Cross Fit For a King".
-
My favorite song changes regularly. Two of my favorites are:
"The Lion and the Lamb" by Crystal Lewis
"I Pledge Allegiance" by Ray Boltz
Oh yea, there's "I Surrender All" by Clay Crosse -
When I think of "Christian" "song" (both modifiers have meaning) that would eliminate
great hymns (mine would be It is Well with My Soul") AND eliminate
scripture songs (mine would be As the Deer).
It would leave an "ode" (Greek = song) that is christian/spiritual and my favorite there would be Ray Boltz "Watch the Lamb" -
Asleep In The Light by Keith Green
Do you see, do you see, all the people sinking down,
Don't you care, don't you care, are you gonna let them drown,
How can you be so numb, not to care if they come,
You close your eyes and pretend the job's done.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh Bless me Lord, bless me Lord, you know it's all I ever hear,
No one aches, no one hurts, no one even sheds one tear,
But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds, and He cares for your needs,
And you just lay back and keep soaking it in, oh, can't you see it's such sin?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cause He brings people to your door,
And you turn them away, as you smile and say,
God bless you, be at peace, and all Heaven just weeps,
Cause Jesus came to your door, you've left Him out on the streets.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Open up, open up, and give yourself away,
You've seen the need, you hear the cry, so how can you delay,
God's calling and you're the one, but like Jonah you run,
He's told you to speak, but you keep holding it in,
Oh, can't you see it's such sin?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world is sleeping in the dark,
That the church can't fight, cause it's asleep in the light,
How can you be so dead, when you've been so well fed,
Jesus rose from the grave, and you, you can't even get out of bed,
Oh, Jesus rose from the dead, come on, get out of your bed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How can you be so numb, not to care if they come,
You close your eyes and pretend the job's done,
You close your eyes and pretend the job's done,
Don't close your eyes, don't pretend the job's done.
Come away, come away, come away with Me, My love,
Come away, from this mess, come away with Me, My love. -
Wow, what a tough question. I gott go with Wilderness by the O.C. Supertones. It's just a great song that says exactly how I feel so often:
The rain falls on the righteous and the wicked
Mine is not to reason why this is
In this I rest in this I find my refuge
That my thoughts and ways are not His
I spend my life on looking up the answers
It's rare that I can't find a reason why
But reasons fail at children without mothers
His plan is more than I can know
Have you ever held in doubt
What this life is all about
Have you questioned all these things that seem
important to us
Do you really wanna know
Or are you a little scared
You're afraid that God is not exactly what you'd had
Him be
What should I hold to and what should I do
How do I know if anything's true
I'm somewhere in-between Canaan and Egypt
A place called the wilderness
I'm not one who always trusts their feelings
I don't believe in what you'd call blind faith
But faith that you can do all that you promised
And you said it all works for good
It's safe to say I don't see the big picture
I can't see the forest for the trees
And if five hundred lives
Were mine to get to know you
All could be spent on just this
(bridge)
God do you really understand what it's like to be a man
Have You ever felt the weight of loving all the
things you Hate
Have You struggled have You worried
How can You sympathize
I have spoken much too soon put my hand over
my mouth
I can't contend with You
Your ways are so much higher
And we pass through the fire that Christ endured
before us
When You were in the wilderness
