The Reason is Staring Us in Face....
.....we can't recognize this most-recent development in our society and economic makeup because it has come upon us in a gradual manner.
Like the old adage of the frog being dropped into a pot of cold water, and remaining there while he is boiled alive - vs - the frog dropped into a pot of boiling water and jumping out to save his life; Americans are not able to see that they have lost economic ground over the past fifteen to twenty years.
Those of us who have lived in the middle calls, especially the upper-middle class and are now struggling to make ends meet, can more quickly see that the "have-have not" economic divide has overtaken us.
Of course, this is my opinion.
Back in the early 1970s, my Theory of Social professor said that one day, there would be a have-vs-have not society in America. Funny how prophetic this prediction was. Alternatively, how sadly it is that in a nation that once had the strongest middle class in the world, there is now just two classes. :tear:
