Johnny Hart's Easter cartoons were not watered down like this one is. B.C. just isn't the same without him. :tear:

Hart always had wonderful Easter cartoons. This year's cartoon was too politically correct. What a disapointment.

I have a binder with many of Johnny Hart's comics. Here's one from a bunch of years ago - same situation (with Wiley sitting under a tree):
The Promise by Wiley
The "Seed of the woman" would come one day
To remove their sins and to open "The Way"
A prophet of old had even told
Of the very day that He would come
And many turned out to praise and shout!
Tho' among them - there were some
Who expected a savior wielding a sword
In place of a loving, compassionate Lord
But He didn't come to save their day
Nor the head of Rome to sever
He came to die - to become "The Way"
The way to live - forever. -
I remember reading one of Hart's strip where two of his characters had gotten their tunics soiled. They went to a creek and started to wash them. This particular edition had no words just drawing. In the backdrop a hill in the distance was shown with three crosses. A stream of blood was flowing from them down into the creek where they were dipping their tunics, the clothes were made white as snow.
Yes Johnny Hart will be missed. This years rendition is just sad. It renders the resurrection of Christ as the rising sun. -

My favorite is a Good Friday strip, probably from '92 or '93:
Who can call Good Friday, "Good"
A term too 'oft misunderstood.
You who were bought by the blood of His cross,
You can call Good Friday, "Good!"
There is the gospel.
