Christ issued commandments when He was teaching. Do you do them?

Unlike all the others on the BB, I came up quite a little short on this list . .
-
Dr. Bob,
I came up a bit short myself. Makes you stop and think doesn't it? -
WOW!
It appears that the poll just described Jesus!
Thank God that my Advocate LIVES! I could never do all those things, though I strive toward that goal.
In HIS service;
Jim -
Jim,
"I strive toward that goal."
Wouldn't it be awesome if every Christian really strived for the goal? -
Every Christian really does strive for the goal.
Joseph Botwinick -
Haven't felt like this since I flunked my 9th grade science exam.
-
No Joseph,
Some really don't strive for the goal. -
Yes TS,
They really do.
Joseph Botwinick -
No, Joseph, quite a few of them sit back and make excuses not to. They lie to themselves. They make remarks like, "We have no obligation to the unsaved," and "thou shalt not judge only refers to people who are being heretics" without realizing that statement alone is heretitical. They spend so much time trying to put other people down that they don't bother to even TRY to do the do's and they lie to themselves saying, "Someone else will do it," or "they deserve to be sick and poor, if they just did what Christ said they wouldn't be."
Quite a few Christians don't strive to live totally like Christ. They strive to live "partly" like Him, doing what is "easy" to do, and ignoring what is not. -
1. Our obligation is to God and his Word. Because of that, we are obligated to witness to the lost. But, that is only because God has told us to.
2. I have never heard that statement, but either the person is ignorant to the Word of God and what it says (which is possible with young Christians), or they are not Christians. All Christians do strive to be obedient to God and his Word.
3. True Christians don't willfully do the things which you are condemning them of doing. All Christians strive to be obedient to God and his Word.

We as Believers---keep the commands---only through Jesus!!! Because only Jesus can keep the commands!!! God expressly developed the commands in such a way that only He could keep them---so that the glory may be of Him and not of us!!! -
Amen!!!!!!!
Joseph Botwinick -
Yes - it does depend on who you call Christians. Are the ones who try to do all the things Christ told them to do the Christians? Or are the ones who pick and choose which part of the commands of Christ to do the Christians? Or. - here is a wild thought - the ones who accept the forgiveness of Christ?
-
And a last thought - why DON'T all Christians try to do ALL the things Christ told us to do?
I can tell you - a HUGE number of people professing to be Christians don't try to do a LOT of the do's. They talk about em, they just don't bother to do em. -
Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink?
Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]?
Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me. -
The key words in your above passage are "professing to be Christians":
There are many who profess to be Christians. But, true Christians will strive to do the will of God, because they are a new creation in Christ. Their desires are for the things of God.
Joseph Botwinick -
I am a Christian, and I DO strive to keep all the commandments, but alas, I fall short in many areas at times.
We can never be perfect because our name is not Jesus, but that shouldn't stop us from trying.
God knew we would never be able to keep all the commandments, that's why he put I John 1:8-10 in the Bible!
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
§ue (a sinner saved by grace) -
I think we are all like that Blessed, in that every Christian who tries fails and keeps on trying.
And Joseph, yes, I know many "profess" and aren't.
Neither of these is what I mean though. I know a lot of people that I think just "forget" or they get so caught up in life and business of Church that they let the do's slide by without even really being fully aware they are. They see it, read it, believe it, intend to do it, and just don't.
Many Christians don't stop and think about the fact that not doing the do's is sinful. It isn't that they wouldn't if they thought of it, they just.. don't think about it.
I don't see it taught as much in many of the churches either.
