I'll have to delve into that one when I don't have to run off to work. I gotta get out of here at the moment. But as far as witches are concerned, next time you see one flying around on a broom, let me now. I would like to see that one for myself.
For those Harry Potter lovers - Did you know ??

Having been in the occult prior to being a Christian I can testify to the demonic power present within it. Again, the ideology of it is false and a lie but the power thereof is very real.
Also, as I read through the thread I still have not heard your moral stance on homosexuality. When homosexual behavior is performed by two consenting adults is the act sin and abominable or is it not sin and acceptable? It's a simple question. Surely your not ashamed to answer? -
Seriously... Real witches exist... I have ministered to some before. I have seen spells...
I actually had a spell put on me...
One of my wiccan friends in college put a spell on me that I would be ugly by the time I was 35.... And just because that spell didn't work... uh..huh.... doesn't mean others don't....
The occult is real...
Demons are real... -

MP, I have to disagree with you. There is real witch craft going on in the world. It has nothing to do with witches on brooms.
Thing is, I differentiate between what is real and what is fiction, just the same as I can tell the diffence between a real gun and a toy. But, the kicker is, children can't always tell the difference and must be taught.
Joe's kids are a good example. I'd love to know if the parents of these kids ever read the books for themselves to make sure their kids were mature enough to know the difference between the fiction and reality(where we are commanded not to partake in witchcraft). I read the books, before, my daughter. We had discussions about things she didn't understand. We had discussions about why God doesn't allow His people to partake of witchcraft in real life. And this the way we approach any new reading material. Do parents not read their kids books anymore?
Now, as far a Rowling sneaking in the homosexuality issue. My kids and I talk about this too. We live in a community that has a rather large (for our size) amount of gay people. We talk about what God says and we also talk about what He says about other sins. EVERYONE has sin! Homosexuals aren't any different than the couple down the street who divorced and one was remarried within 6 months and the other within an year. Sorry, I can't draw a line that says the homosexual is worse.
We will have a discussion about how Rowling attached an ugly meaning to a passage that otherwise the reader was left to draw their own conclusions about. That's is what good literture does. It leaves the reader free to imagine. Imagination isn't a bad thing, but it can used badly. She has taken that freedom away by attaching a homosexual meaning to an otherwise innocous passage. Yes, it makes me angry, but it is also one more chance to teach my children how to deal with unbelievers in a society that is full of them. -
Hey MK
I am not sure how much of this is post written to me, but the first quote you grabbed was posted by Alan.
Know I think you are a neat lady, and I like your posts :) But ......you are also very confused on this issue, imo. The passages posted show witchcraft is forbidden and considered just as bad as other sins labeled an abomination. You know homosexuality is a sin. I am unsure why you compare folks getting divorced with homosexuals. Are you trying to justify homosexuality in doing so? Maybe you don't realize you are doing so.
To compare a past act of divorce with someone currently living a homosexual lifestyle is not fair. One is past sin, one is present sin. And some divorces are allowed under God's laws. Homosexual sex acts are never allowed.
I watched Bewitched growing up. I believe it is a wholesome, funny comedy, but that doesn't change the fact it contains witchcraft which is forbidden by God. Reviewing books containing witchcraft is not needed, since if it is questionable for my 16 year old, it also questionable for me. He knows witchcraft is wrong, end of story. Nothing to talk about, now we are to stay far from it.
The word says witchcraft and homosexuality is forbidden. -
I'm tolerant of gay people in that I don't inflict violence and hatred to them. I don't agree with their lifestyle. It is sinful. Period and I don't like it. But THEIR version of "being tolerant" means that I have to see their way of life as a good, valid and OK way of life.
That's the problem when they use the English language, but they use their dictionary.
BTW, nothing wrong with questioning authority....it is how we learn. The Bereans didn't swallow all that Paul said....they searched the Scriptures. -

Please note that according to the Baptist Board User Agreement and/or BB Posting Rules no threads dealing with human sexuality will be allowed in an open public forum.Given that, even though I don't think it is a good rule, I am trying to abide by it.

Note the dealing with human sexuality.
That means the topic of the thread can't fall under the category of human sexuality
thus we are not allowed to "deal with human sexuality" in any part of the conversation as it relates to the thread title
This topic isn't about a human so it's fine.
Answering the question about your views is still not "dealing with" anything including human sexuality since the title of the thread doesn't fall under this category
But to get into detail beyond a simple yes or no might be walking a line regarding the spirit of the rules.
So imho, if you wish to answer it, proceed on...... -

Which part do you see it being misinterpreted? I broke it down

What's not the topic, my question?
BB rules dictate what is said in the posts so it is related
but if you don't want to answer, just say so. -
How many here have seen the movie "The Maltese Falcon"? Did you enjoy it?
