I think you misunderstood her. She meant would you ever think of someone you love as "ugly" (such as a wife, which is what we were talking about.)
And if a man did think of his wife as "ugly", then that would not be treating her very well.
It was all hypothetical.

Just to chime in for what it's worth . . .
I've been married to the same guy now for just under 26 years. We've both had careers. His has been primary & by the grace of God, his job has allowed me many ministry opportunities because I wasn't concerned about income. I just didn't have to look at the bottom line.
We've both given for each others' jobs. We've both given for each others' educations. We both given for the kids (and given and given and given and . . . )
Marry the person you are sure God would have you marry regardless of their present or future career. Know that people (that would include our spouses) are gonna sin. We've gotta forgive each other as Christ would have us forgive each other. We gotta love each other as Christ loved the church. -
