Sounds like they were afforded the full protection of the Geneva Convention , at least the part that applies to American POWS.
I'm sure some bright young lawyer from the aclu made a request that their habeus corpus rights be observed. Maybe it was too late for anything but the corpus to apply.:tear: -
Terrorists don't allow their captured enemies rights under the Geneva Convention.
This is the primary difference between true Americans and terrorists. -

. . . From one true American to another . . . I gotta ask: "What does he think he is?"
1. A legal immigrant.
2. An illegal immigrant.
3. A citizen kept free by the blood of OTHERS?
-
So the question still begs to be asked, when is there going to be enough American blood and treasure spent for the ignorant people of Iraq who bite the beating hearts out of living bunnies and chew the heads off of living frogs?
-

No question about that. We walked away from fighting terrorists in Afghanistan, to fight the enemies of terrorists in Iraq, creating a whole new class of terrorists thereby.
Bottom line remains the same. Terrorists don't abide by the Geneva convention, because that is the sort of people they are.
Genuine Americans do treat prisoners humanely because that is the sort of people we are.
Most of us, anyway. -
If Sam Houston had not taken the "humane" role when Santa Anna was captured after San Jacinto, and instead followed his namesake Samuel's example and slabbed Agag, he would not have overthrown the constitutinal government of Mexico 4 more times to make himself dictator. But then I may not be able to camp at Grand Canyon, Rocky Moutain, Arches, or other parks as cheaply, either.

The cause of the war rests solely on the shoulders of Saddam Hussein. All he had to do was cooperate with the UN.
Then he could have continued to oppress his people, murder them pretty much at will and accumulate vasts sums of ill gotten wealth and when he finally turned the Iraq over to his psycopathic sons, the fun could have really begun. -
Houston was a complex guy, wild and undisciplined in some ways and unbelievably wise in others.
He realized that mercy was not just tactically right; it was also the thing that separated Texans from Santa Anna and his fellows.
There were some who didn't follow that idea. Many Mexicans were killed out of hand after the battle, including one officer who had pleaded with Santa Anna to spare the life of Davy Crockett. -
I'm curious as to how they were taken captive in the first place. Were they already wounded?
The Marines I have talked to who have served in Iraq say they have an absulute no surrender policy. Fight till you die or are too badly wounded to go on, is the unwritten policy. They know their fate if they are captured.
It angers them a great deal to hear liberals pleading for captured terrorists to be given access to our civilian court system. That attitude could manifest itself in illegal killings of potential terrorist captives. Liberals only have themselves to blame for that attitude.
When they know the only treatment they will receive is a bullet in the brain or live decapitation, it affects their attitutude towards prisoners they take, or they may decide it's not worth the effort to take a captive at all. -
Navy Seal...
Wow, I had no idea that happened, as I haven't seen the news today. Very sad. My husband was a Navy Seal and really can't believe all that our leaders have allowed to happen with this war. Pray for our men over there and the ones leaving to go. -

yet we are just as fallen as them...and if an American soldier isn't saved....he quite literarly is the same person as whomever he calls his "enemy," excluding our saved race.
-
Bro. Curtis, we don't always agree, but I respect you and understand the anger this causes, but I don't think Galatian has done anything except to point out the difference between our civilized society and their uncivilized one.
BTW, our son is moving to Utah, so we might be getting a close up look at the beautiful scenery out West sometime this summer. -
I just want to make sure the people that are tried are terrorists and not some innocent civilian who was mistaken or set-up by someone for some personal reason. -
This is why I continue to say, a democratic free Iraq is a pipedream of those who do not understand this religious political ideology of mohammed. -
What you say is not really true to everyone. The argument usually is to treat them humanely, per the Geneva Convention, in order to insure the humane treatment of our troops. That clearly is not working and hasn't for over 60 years. Being "like" them doesn't enter into the equation.
