Is this Dear Abby's Systematic Theology?
Cheers,

I would ask her how she would feel if it were her father on the death bed? I'd remind her that everyone has a story, a struggle and pain and that we can never compare our pain to anyone else. I'd REALLY like to smack her upside the head and tell her to get over herself but I know that is not productive but that is why I don't do much counseling. LOL

This woman is still grieving, but she is also being very selfish. I just lost my dad over a year ago and am still dealing with it, but I am mature enough to see that I don't have to be self-absorbed with his loss.
I would tell her to grieve and stop trying to live in the past. Her father, although young, is gone and and she needs to deal with that fact. Being cold or insensitive to the pain of others not only hurts them but hurts her as well as she is constantly reliving her loss. I have found that writing letters to those who have died, telling them how you feel, how you liss them, how you are hurt and angry over their loss to have a great healing quality. I know it helped me in the lost of our son.
