Does anyone watch the HGTV show "Fixer Upper" with Chip and Joanna Gaines? Here is Joanna's story of following God's direction -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7iPEDnqwm0 -- very interesting.

I love that show. I hardly ever watch it because of time constraints but when I was sick earlier in the year, I did an HGTV marathon and it was wonderful. I love the Gaines, I love their farm, I love their relationship and I love that they are believers. :)

Did you see the recent episode where the young couple was Max Lucado's daughter and son-in-law, and Joanna was able to incorporate his prayer at their wedding into their new home? Very nice.
We've been to their store a couple of times - nice stuff but a little pricey. And very friendly staff. Met Chip last year at a baseball game. As nice in person as he is on TV. -
We now get this programme here in the UK. Love the work they do but can't help thinking that making a house into a home takes a bit longer and is a bit more personal than they make out on tv.

It's my understanding that they actually turn the house around in the number of weeks as noted in the show. But yes, it wouldn't surprise me if the buyer had already seen some and approved of some of the key elements -- appliances, counter tops, cabinets, etc. Regarding the design features, the buyers can opt in or out on those items, depending on their needs and personal tastes - this is based on an interview with one of the buyers. -
Yes, it is new over here but we quite like to watch it. Maybe you could send them over here to help us out..... Biggrin

Would love to -- but they don't do any work outside the central Texas area -- which is where they have their contacts, employees, etc. We were out there a few weeks ago. Got to see the new Magnolia Market and the silos -- very, very nice people who work there. Also, went by Harp Design's store (Joanna's carpenter), which is about 3-5 miles away. Smaller, but cool stuff.

I have watched several episodes of Fixer Upper during the last couple of years.
I have noticed that Joanna cannot design a house without using Shiplap, French Doors & a Pot Filler over the range.
What is with that??? -

Shiplap is a different story for me, as that would not work where I live. However, it seems to be a staple in central Texas. As such, it seems more about going back to their roots than anything else. -
We had Brothers here in Michigan, our version of property Brother, who signed with that network as House flippers, but due to them being vocal pro life/anti gay marriages, were never allowed to air, but did film 6 shows!
