Good Sermon, Maverick!
My pastor preaches the same things. Too bad too many pulpits of all denominations (including Baptist) are silent on these issues.
How do you feel about gun control?

Assuming that people in the U.S dont want any form of gun control, What are you going to do so that you can stop shootings in your schools.
-
Again, the problem here is not guns. The problem is sin. The problem is lost parents raising lost kids in a lost world. We have got to give them Jesus. If we do that everything else will fall into line. -

Thanks for answering that for me.

Um...hate to tell y'all this, but 5.56mm is equivalent to .223 caliber.
Two different standards of measure, similar to comparing inches and centimeters.

Actually, guys, I don't know a lot about guns, but the media reported the snipers used the .223 by Bushmaster, if that's the weapon ya'll are discussing:
-
I just wanted to know where you all stood on the issue. I have no problem with owning a gun. In fact, I do have a gun. I will get another one when I can. I have a wife and son and another on the way. If someone busted in my home, I am glad I am a marksman. If I can prevent him from hurting my family and someone else's, I will.
However, if someone busted in my home and threatened the life of myself or my family because I am a Christian , I will lay my gun down and will not struggle.
There is a huge difference. -
Don! So, what you are saying is--a 5.56mm = a .223 caliber? I knew that all along--its just that I ain't no good at Metric measurements. It would be the same as saying a .223 caliber = a 5.56mm??
Maverick! Good sermon, dude! Now I won't have to go to church Sunday--'cause I've been to church here on the BB!!
I heard someone mention on the BB that they wish that more preachers would preach on arming ones self(or something to that matter)--sorry, man! This preacher ain't gonna advocate from the pulpit that you or anyone else should go out and buy a "heater" or that you should apply for a gun permit or even register your hands as a "lethal weapon." I once ran upon one of my elderly widows who was outside in her yard picking Poke salad greens--I noticed she had a "heater" straped on to her hip--looked just like Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke! I asked her "Why the heater?" to which she said--"Oh, just in case I see a snake!" I eased my way on back to the pick-up truck! Didn't want to give any reason for her to believe that I resembled a snake!
Your friend,
Blackbird -
Yep, Blackbird, that's exactly it.
It's also the same as saying that a 7.62mm round (AK-47 for you movie-goers) is the same as a .308 caliber round (for you hunters).
The M-16 is touted as a 5.56mm because of our alliance with NATO; our NATO allies need to be able to identify our rounds to see if they're compatible with their weapons (i.e., picking up a few rounds in battle and using them in your own weapon).
It's a nice idea, but it rarely works out.
In my prior job in the Air Force, I learned more about the M-16 than I ever wanted to know. Nowadays, however, they're using an M-16A2, which has a couple of more widgets, and I'm not as familiar with.
If that's all it takes to qualify as a potential sniper, I guess I'm waiting for the knock on the door.... -
Here are a few more thoughts:
"ONE MAN WITH A GUN CAN CONTROL 100 WITHOUT ONE." - LENIN
"...A CIVILIZED NATION HAS FULL GUN REGISTRATION." - ADOLPH HITLER
"ARMED WOMEN = POLITE MEN."
99% OF ALL GUNS HAVE KILLED FEWER PEOPLE THAN TED KENNEDY.
FREE MEN DO NOT ASK PERMISSION TO BEAR ARMS.
GUN CONTROL IS NOT ABOUT GUNS; IT'S ABOUT CONTROL.
GUN BANS WORK! JUST LOOK HOW SAFE NEW YORK CITY AND WASHINGTON DC ARE!
I CARRY A PISTOL BECAUSE MY AK-47 WON'T FIT IN MY POCKET. -
Shoot !!! Gun control is great ! Its down right hard to hit your target if you can't control your gun.
