NOT inspired in the same sense as the Apostles were, do you hold that any one living can speak new revelations from God, or to write down new ones for us not found in the Bible?
Do you hold that such a thing is impossible for God?
Yes, I believe that someone could.
I just have no idea if God has appointed anyone to actually do so and I question whether there is any need for a "revelation" in the sense of OT and NT Biblical Prophesy.
Thats the headline. What did Oral say? You have snippets. He always credited God for the miracles. I do not care for Oral Roberts, but you still have to take him in context. He was way out there, but he still credited God for the healings and resurrections. (Assuming there were any)
Brother, people will not see what they do not want to see. They will not believe what they do not want to believe. God is raising up prophets and apostles and evangelists all around the world--way too many members were wearing Saul's armor, thinking pastor/teacher was the only gift in the Body of Christ.
You realize, brother, that not all Apostles wrote scripture, right? Matter of fact, Mark was not an (original) apostle and he wrote Scripture. Luke was not an (original) apostle and he wrote Scripture. While i agree that Scripture is not being written, your claim is still pointless. (original meaning one of the 11)
Are those Apostles/prophets giving forth additional revelations, or writing new books into the canon for us? My bible states that we have in it the once and forever finished theology pf the faith, correct?
Modern day Apostles to me would be missionaries, those who go forth in his name and have authority to establish local churches, but none exist today that can speak forth or write dowe fresh and new divine revelations!
While I am cessationist.
I hold two soeaking gifts were in part and made perfect with the giving of the book Revelation being
of those two speaking gifts being made perfect by that.
So those two gifts which were in part were done away.
The gifts speaking in tongues as it is called became inopperative.
All the other gifts, less of course Apostles and prophets as such, all the other gifts are still operative.
James 1:17, 1 Corinthians 13:8-10. Revelation 22:18.
You do realize apostles and prophets have more functions than what you state, right? Apostle = sent ones. the Latin word for that is Missio, where we get our word Missionary = sent ones.
Read Ephesians 4:11-16 again. And Again. And Again. They are ministries that will be around until the return of Christ. That's what Scripture says. i believe Scripture.
Acts says very little about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts. Most of what you hear is manmade hype as people add to scripture trying to connect the dots, by adding their own dots. This is what scripture says and nothing more.
