Hey :D
You and abcgrad94 are married!
The posts are related. I'm not the smartest at times. Didn't mean to put you on the spot. Reply is still the same though
How would you handle this?

Doesn't apply to the majority of states, (maybe all) and especially to West Virginia & Massechusets. Even regarding to the two others states, it doesn't carry much weight. Good faith calls to CPS are covered, no one can sue over it.
I don't think this client privilege is an expectation most church people have of their Pastors anyway, though they assume most of what they say will be more private than talking with someone else. Imo, that's usually for an expectation regarding Doctors and Lawyers.
Most or all states deny this privilege in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect, again, especially West Virginia and Massachusetts's. Checked this again before giving advice to abcgrad. This "privilege" doesn't carry much weight anyhow. They are called Good faith calls, and no one can sue over it.
http://findlaw.com/ This website is a great resource to learn about the laws. I hit the "For legal professionals" button at the top instead of the "For the public" button -
I agree
I agree with what Joe said.
I'm going to talk to our pastor after Christmas about this issue of neglect/abuse. My husband and I teach the kindergarten Sunday School class and no one has ever talked to us about looking for the signs of neglect or abuse....
I'm thinking it would be a very good idea to have someone review the social service laws of New Hampshire and have a meeting with all the child workers at church.
As far as lice, I have heard that there is now a resistant form of lice out there....our friends' daughter somehow had lice last August or '06....took them about four months to get rid of it! Just awful for the whole family! The over the counter remedies didn't even touch the lice...forgot now what they finally had to treat her with, but they got it from their pediatrician. Oh, Pantene shampoo is excellent for some cases...something in the Pantene is noxious to lice.
On the topic, I am afraid that I would also have to send the children home. I'd send a lice-care package to the family, and also reach out in love to them in other ways.....clothing perhaps or food...perhaps some help from the deacon fund. Have the parents heard the gospel? Send a good gifted man in evangelism to deliver the care packages and discuss the gospel with the family. Bring Bibles to give out to them. Sermon tapes also. The infected children need to learn also what love is.....it isn't loving to spread the lice to other children.....this is a rule which applies to ALL children who attend the church. -
If we notice abuse it should be reported. However I do hope the church doesn't become a gestapo type faction on abuse like our public school system is becoming.
My children recently contracted lice. What a pain in the neck! And as the Senior Pastor and the Father I kept them home from school and church until it was resolved. -
As you should have Tim :D
I think that's why I don't see it hardly ever at school. That's what most parents do - they keep their kids home. Kids get lice - occassionally! When I put in the search terms for Chronic Lice, I got an education though. -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that in most states, daycares are authorized to use WD-40 on children who squeek or are extremely rusty.

I thought so :saint:

Here is a good article to read... From the American Academy of Pediatrics
http://aappolicy.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/pediatrics;110/3/638
Here in an excerpt from the article... Soprannette, you should read this...
"A variety of other products, from acetone and bleach to vodka and WD-40 (WD-40 Company, San Diego, CA), have proved to be ineffective in loosening nits from the hair shaft33 and present an unacceptable risk to the patient. " -
Guys, let's leave Sopranette alone. I think she gets it.
Love you sis. :praying: -
Thank you, Amy. :wavey: Yes, I do get it by now. It was a dumb thing to say. It's something I heard a long time ago. I've never actually done this to any child. I was just trying to think of a way to help this child out without singeling him out, and without turning him away, either. Not everything you read on the 'net is gospel, you know. I'll be the first to admit I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree! I'm sorry!
love,
Sopranette -
I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken. -
I just wanted to make sure you knew it was possibly dangerous.... -
Don't worry Sopranette. You know you're finally accepted here when we pick on you. -
Love,
Rubato 1 -
We are too. I throw bulbs at her year round.
What kind of bulbs depends on the time of year.
Luv ya sis ;) -
Soprannette, can I borrow some WD-40?
Bitsy, can I borrow some big bulbs?
Now all I need is a sling shot that will sling bulbs about 150 miles...
The WD-40 will cut wind resistance... -
Sorry, tinytim. Big date tonight. I need all the WD40 I can spare.
love,
Sopranette
