Well I had a meeting with my therapist today and we discussed this matter. He thinks it may be that my brain is such that it generates very smart voices that can converse with me, claim to be demons, know what words to say to wound me, act purposefully in conversation, and such. He believes the reason my voices may come out as if I am a medium is that I have a verbal tic disorder which was diagnosed today.
The problem I have is that my biblical credulity has kicked in. If this were Jesus day, and we heard in the bible of a man who was being given what could be termed false prophecy because it had internal consistency to be called such, where the man was being pestered by a voice that interacted with him in intelligent two way conversation by controlling his mouth to be able to put out words of its own. I do believe that Jesus would move to cast out the demon immediately in such a case. I could be wrong of course and I admitted such to my therapist. There is little to be done for this phenomenon medically as my medication has never treated it for some reason even though my false prophecy began in 2005.
My plan is to pursue demonic deliverance as my best option. I have had a positive encounter with healing ministries in the past. I once had my tinnitus style auditory hallucinations go away for a year at immediately when being prayed over for healing. I had an odd din in the background that dissipated the second the "amen" happened. If that fails then I may have to consider it is a mental health concern.
As for my dealings in the occult, I used to be a gamer before becoming a believer 8 months ago. But I fled the coming wrath of God (Hebrews 12:14) and have fled anything that seems occult-like including Star Wars. gamer cultures is entirely occultic so that was a big problem. As an imposter believer I loved to research demonology as well as battle for control of regions against principalities because I thought I could make a difference doing so. All of which is of course dangerous nonsense that opened me up to retribution from the Enemy.
My biggest quandary now is whether the possibility of having a demon control and attack me is a reason for great alarm concerning whether I am saved. I mean I assume I am saved only 8 months ago. I could be wrong. I still do not perceive amazing spiritual gifts and Jesus' yoke does seem kind of heavy. I will pray for the Holy Spirit everyday as they did in the run up to Pentecost and I ask for any guidance you guys and gals have to offer. -

I do not believe that God raises prophets as in the office of prophet. I believe this for two reasons. First, the evidence of good fruit is too scant for such to be true as far as I can tell from any "prophetic ministers" active today. I also agree that prophets need 100% accuracy as told to us by the Old Testament. Second, prophets are a foundation-role for the church like the apostles, as told to us by Ephesians 2:20. So just thinking about it, any prophets alive today would have king-like authorty at this point in church history. That is deadly divisive and wrong to believe as far as I can tell. Third, I do go to the Word, but conservative commentaries disagree on what to make of Ephesians 2:20 and 1 Corinthians 13:13 so I want to be careful to not misinterpret the Word. However, to me Ephesians 2:20 calls it. The church's foundation is laid and there are no more prophets. -

As I have been searching for a deliverance ministry I have been shocked that some charge money, that others believe in UFOs and alien demons, that some believe in "generational curses," and the list of false doctrines according to the bible go on.
Where do baptists go if they believe they have encountered the power of the devil and his angels? -

I'd love to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about the gift and its use and place in today's church! I did go through coursework after the mantle was seen upon me in the baptism tank. And I had the gift confirmed and was given authority to use this gift by the laying on of hands from fellow prophets, Randy Adler, etal. Contact me through message on this board to discuss this further. And don't let others try to squash your gift. The gift has as much place in today's church as let's say the gift of preacher, pastor, teacher, evangelist, etc. Shalom!
I am also an ordained SBC pastor. -

I take the gift and office seriously, and never move in the gift without prayer and a word of knowledge coming from the Holy Ghost. As a prophet, His spoken words through me have always been Biblically backed and time has shown them to be correct.
It sounds like you were confused and conflicted as to the gift and its working as well as place among the other gifts and offices of apostle, teacher, preascher, pastor, etc. But the truth about prophet, like the other callings are that they ate JUST THAT ..... a calling. My calling to the ministry was a no doubt event. And God demonstrated to me that this was where He wanted me. The same was trueabout prophet, later in the ministry, and like with pastor, I came to know, that I know, I was called!
I struggled because I didn't believe prophet was still an available calling, but time and experiences showed me my error in thinking.
I think you have seen your errors, good for you. I just want to say, if you ate called, you will grow to hold no doubts. Shalom. -

My pastor did pray over me today in a home visit. He believes my problem may be both mental health and spiritual in nature. I was reminded that when all this this began to happen I was lustful for power to change the world, and honestly I sought spiritual authority for this reason thinking that God would bless me because I wanted to help people. I was also reminded that I was after a woman to complete me when this started up. I have since seriously considered the idea of being celibate, but I still have a libido that annoys me, but I do not use visual aids like pornography or sexual fantasy. My pastor also advised me that I should be wary of believing I have supernatural powers or that I can get them. I agree. I have now begun to abandon the idea that I have supernatural ability from God or ever will apart from the experience of following the Father's will by living by the Spirit. I have also started to take seriously the biblical command to live a quiet life, and also for me to be content living a quiet life. I have also repented of wanting to change the world by grabbing power. I have also repented of trying to acquire spiritual authority and power for the goal of my own will. I see now I was trying to build my own kingdom instead of building His.
Wow, I had to stop typing for a little because I had several shrieks and convulsions and the voice I have been channeling lately has disappeared just as I finished writing that last paragraph. My voice claiming to be a demon and the spirit of the antichrist giving me prophecy has been replaced by a different voice that I now channel with a different personality and different verbal idioms. I have channeled this voice before though. I will simply have my pastor pray for me during our monthly one-on-one discussion of the bible and hopefully the spiritual aspect of this phenomenon will be dealt with in time. I see I may have more than one demon attacking me, and while I believe there is a fundamental mental health aspect to this, I also believe that the Enemy is piggy backing on my mental illness to worsen it and insert himself and his angels when opportunistic because I have opened myself up to many traps of the Enemy like charismatic prophecy and the idea of soul mates. -

I also wanted to state that I have repented of believing I have Pentecostal or Charismatic gifts. I have also repented of being Pentecostal or Charismatic as my reading of the Word and experiences within that movement through the International House of Prayer and Faith Assembly led me to believe that it is both unbiblical and counterfeit. As soon as I repented of all of this, I felt completely different and more normal.
I wanted to thank you all for your amazing testimony to me at this message board. I mean just looking at the first post in this thread versus this one, I have come such a long way and I owe you guys and gals a debt of gratitude.
Our Father in Heaven Bless You and Your Loved Ones Abundantly in Jesus' Name,
Steve
