I wonder if his long list of accomplishments that were done in the flesh will mean a hill of beans to God on judgement day or if he will hear the words "depart from me you worker of iniquity. I never knew you." God is not impressed with our works. Our works do not save us. God does.
Joseph Botwinick </font>
I am saying that it possible that this man is in deep rebellion, </font>
On this we can agree. He is not, however, saved if he is converted to Islam.
Joseph Botwinick </font>
Agreed. If he fully commits to Islam he is not saved.
If a Baptist Converts to Islam have they lost their Salvation?

My name is Joseph, not John.

Would a Truly born again believer ever use a Swear Word, How about if that believer had at least once a day an impure thought, would that indicate they were not actually born again in the first place?
-
Dunno about him, but as they say, "hard cases make bad rules".

Joseph Botwinick </font>
My deepest apologies Joseph. :(
I have a brother named John and I guess I got confused. ;) -
Joseph Botwinick </font>
Sorry Joseph,
What I am leading to, is that being a part of Islam is to be in the sin of Idolatory, yet as you have pointed out we all sin. Every Christian will die with some measure of Sin in his life, yet it is the blood of Jesus that covers that sin.
Why would the sin of Idolatory be any different to any other sin, if all sins are forgiven why not that one? -
There is a difference in messing up every now and then, and then making it your lifestyle. Further, true Christians will not continue in sin because we have the Holy Spirit to bring us to repentance.

One can confess and profess yet not possess. If one is truly Born-Again and knows the Word of
God as Truth, why would one search out another "religion"? It would appear that such a person never truly believed in the first place therefore remains lost at this point. :( -

Joseph is right. To continue to sin (which is what the tense of the Greek word there indicates) is different than the "mess ups" we all do.
Quite frankly, this case may indicate how poor our concept of evangelism is. We've (SBC) reduced salvation to walking an aisle, repeating a prayer (asking Jesus into one's heart, not quite the most biblical description), and getting immersed. No preaching of law, little concept of the holiness of God and the loathsomeness of our sin, the grace of God is saving rebellious sinners, etc. Out of over 16 million Southern Baptists, only about one third are in worship on any Lord's Day. I'm not saying that missing corporate worship now and then means that one is necessarily not saved, but I do believe that attending worship is about the easiest thing a Christian does. I did it regularly as a lost person! Could it be that a large number of Southern Baptists (I speak as a Southern Baptist pastor) are not truly converted?
I doubt seriously that the man who converted to Islam was ever a Christian.

What does the Bible say about this?
It says that nobody, not even OURSELVES, can take us out of His hand. I hope that answers your question. -
Anyone who converts to any false religion - could not have been truly born again!
-
Churchboy, that's possible true, and it may also be true that his initial "conversion" was not a real conversion to fellowship with God but some kind of head thing with no spiritual dimension to it. . . .
so I side with those who leave that judgement to God. -
I believe if a man renounces his faith for another is lost

Hebrews 10:26,27, "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries."
Mt. 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.' -
Jesus is quite clear on this:
"Yet they will by NO MEANS follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." (John 10:5)
If they (seem to) depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and things taught by demons: Islam, Mormonism, J.W., whatever, rest assured, they were never a sheep of the Good Shepherd! -
I have known a couple of so call christians [some of them were [so-called baptist], who I have gone to a baptist church with latter convert to islam. These people in my opinion were "amongts us, but were never part of us", one of them even told a christan sister who also went to church with us that, "The Bible is the greatest book ever written, but the quaran is the only true and holy book ever written", this was her reply when asked why did she become a muslim. I believe that God the Father, Jesus Christ nor The Holy Spirit will ever force these people to believe in Them. These former so call christians do not believe that Jesus was The Christ, in the resurrection, or that Jesus died on the cross, but that God {or allah}as they say put another person in His place and took Him up to Heaven. Islamic people believe that Jesus was a prophet and not God in the Flesh and they don't know if they will go to Heaven or not [they do not have secured salvation] unless they die for allah in a jihad manner, a holy war manner. even when asked if they are going to heaven their reply is " only allah knows". I feel that after professing with their mouths that they were believers, that they did not have a clue to what they were were professing to or they would not have given up Christ for a false religion, seeing after what He has done and is still doing for us.
