Over the Christmas period I, and a lot of others samg many christmas carols, included in the number was
"Angels we have heard on high "
The fourth verse (in the hymn book we use) reads:- See Him in a manger laid,
Whom the choirs of angels praise;
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
While our hearts in love we raise.
So what ae we asking of Mary and Joseph? The help of dead saints???
Sang it before realising what the words were saying.
I believe the request is made for Joseph and Mary to "aid" in the "praise" while Jesus was in the manger, not at a later time after their death. That is the way it reads, grammatically. I do see the angle by which some may take it in the regard you've questioned, but I have to look at all things in proper perspective; I'm not catholic. I'm a Bible believing Baptist!
