It should be! :BangHead:
Some nut out here in the country did so the other night around midnight and it woke me UP! Scared me to death! It scared people for miles around.
NOW, he just did it again. My whole house shook and the windows rattled.
I haven't gotten to the bottom of whether that it legal or not. He's got to be using 25 pounds!
I'm telling you, when my grandmother's Fostoria falls off my shelf and shatters into a million pieces, he's going to replace it!!
Is exploding tannerite illegal?!?!?

It's legal here in KY. There's a couple rednecks in my own clan that are fascinated and play with it all the time down in the bottom. They like to shoot it with hi-powered rifles and watch it go KA-BOOM!

Scarlett, if you taught him and he knows and has respect for you, talk to him.
It's odd, the two rednecks I'm referring to are both Iraq/Afghanistan veterans. I'd think that they would have had enough of that already, evidently not. One of them is my youngest SIL. -

He's had several issues with improper behavior since he left home. This is just par for the course. I've only seen him once or twice in the past several years and he has turned out "rough as a cob". I know you know what that means. -
Maybe it's just a 'thang' and will pass soon.

It is the ultimate redneck toy combining fire arms and explosives. Just as soon as one of those good old boys figures out how to blow it up while driving a truck there will be no more need for alcohol south of the Mason-Dixon line. -
Tannerite is verboten at our local gun club. Story is that someone set off 4lbs of it and irritated local constabulary.
I do not know if four pounds is a lot. No experience with it. -
Hahaha.....let them do so and evolution will be well rid of such donkeys. -
Tannerite is an explosive comprised of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, purchasable at any Bass Pro Shop or similar. It has a relative explosiveness of around .54 (depending on the mixture), which means one pound of tannerite is equal to a half pound of trinitrotoluene (TNT). It is a very stable form of explosive, sold in two separate containers, which are inert on their own, but explosive when mixed.
It is illegal to transport when mixed. It is not illegal to own or blow up. However, the city ordinances should have a code of the maximum net explosive weight (Pounds x RE) that can be detonated in one blast.
25 pounds of tannerite, surface laid, would leave a hole a few feet deep and several wide. Ammonium nitrate is a pushing charge, designed for clearing earth. Also, you would want to be about 100-150' away from that much, to avoid inner ear compression and concussion.
