I read post 86. It all struck me as very haphazard and disorganised: a social worker here, a parish church there, with the Sally Army occasionally thrown in for good measure

It's all true, and more.
I would sell donuts in a carry cart during the Mardi Gras. made lots of money especially from those who had indulged a little too much, they were very generous. Plus all the donuts I wanted.
Fishing: I brought home lots of fish while I was a teen in Louisiana. Enough to share with the neighbors sometimes.
Though part time work was discouraged by the welfare social worker I did get a job for a while in a Puerto Rican restaurant.
My step father worked at the prison (because he was a Mason the warden used him as his Stewart in the meeting hall) and periodically I would visit him and get a couple handfuls of silver coins (tips from his service - real silver in those days).
And more.

Shows we give too much money to those unwilling to work.

That's a shame. I plan to buy at least two more this week.

Oh I see.
They think "I want to get to Europe because of the US influence"?
Grow up.

I ask the same question to you that I asked a member of a baptict Church near here, when he said "My pastor is starting Lent classes."
Why?

If it wasn't for America you would probably be speaking German.

They know it. They are bitter that their empire has been reduced to an island.

No. As per the 10th Amendment, the individual sovereign states can do whatever they want, provided their state constitutions do not prohibit them doing certain things. This was the genius of the Founders, a Federal government whose powers were limited to certain actions and then everything else was left to the individual states. Government works best when it is closest to the people.

The low paying jobs came about under Obama. Remember, when Obamacare came about businesses went to part time jobs or kept their employee pool under the minimum required to get around Obamacare. Plus, Obama said manufacturing jobs were gone forever, well, President Trump has proved the Bamster wrong.

Yeah, I hear you. Better to live in a place where stabbings and acid throwing is completely out of control, right?

A gun is just a tool. It can be used safely and responsibly, or dangerously and recklessly. Too bad that lady who was stabbed to death not long ago in her own home in England while her husband was away didn't have one, she just might be alive right now. I sleep better at night knowing that when I am away from home my wife is armed and prepared to defend herself should the unthinkable ever happen.

"If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism."
Ronald Reagan
As usual, Reagan nailed it in just a few words.
Here's what history has taught us.
The biggest human disasters of the last 100 years have come at the hands of the left.
Soviet Union:
estimates go as high as 61 million
Red China :
Estimates as high as 77 million
Cambodia :
2.5 million (the American left is at least partially responsible for this one.)
Hitler:
6 million Jews and millions of other civilians around the world
Wait for it...

Over exaggerated. Better to live in a place where I can send my kids to school confident that no nutter with a gun is going to massacre them
