So when I speak generally and according to the truth, you take it personally? You should, but it was never intended to be an "attack" as you presume. Your error, again.
Is the KJV inferior to you?

Anyone who can rationally think knows the difference between "did flatter"/ to no avail, vs. "deceived"/ an impossibility with God.
-
Obviously you have problems with preachers. -
2. Sal, out of due respect, but your statement reveals utter nonsense.
3. Pull out our old friend Webster and you will see that "flattery" is a form of deception.
4. Sal, it's a simple synonymous Hebrew parallelism.
5. Mcdirector correctly observed that from man's perspective he thinks he can deceive God, but we know that that is utter folly. -
I have never referred to anyone as being "dumbed down" that is pure conjecture on your part, again. -
Read the enitre context in the KJB and it is evident, but read it in the NASV and it's deceiving to think God could possibly be deceived from any viewpoint.
"Bitsey" pointed out what we all should know as Christians, not what the NASV says.
I understand your attempt to point out the parallelism, but at face value, and in your estimation, the casual reader who knows nothing about Hebrew parallelism would think God can be deceived.
You demand a simpleton's Bible but then in an adverse way contradict yourself to think a simpleton would know Hebrew parallelisms. -
There is no need to put Bitsy (if spelled correctly) in quotes. It is the name on my birth certificate. -
I can only speak for me, but your posts amuse me.
Well....occasionally they make me feel sorry for ya, but mostly amuse me.
I get amused at how many of your posts end up edited by mods, too.
Now I'll think of you every time I read the Sunday comics.
(an aside for Sunday Comics fans)--
BTW...the creator of the Wizard of Id and BC, Johnny Hart, used comics to share about things of God quite regularly.
But Sal wouldn't like him much...he shared Scriptural truth using post-1611 language. :D -
You sign your posts "Bitsy". I see two people in your picture. I didn't know if you are the director or the man inthe picture so I thought it best to refer to you as you sign your posts.
Ease off on the old "attacked" venture, it goes nowhere but convolutes the minds of others into thinking something amiss. IOW, it's the same old "victim" awareness principle. -

I only pointed out that I don't put my name in quotes, so why are you? You are welcome to call me Bitsy, lots of people do, just please leave off the quotes. It's a real name. -

and, true to form, he does use the KJV.
   -
I used them to show I was quoting what some one else said, I meant no disrespect. -

2. The Hebrew word behind "deceived" is patah, which the KJV translators rendered "flattered."
3. The same Hebrew word patah, the KJV renders "entice," and "deceive" in Prv.1:10 and 24:28, respectively.
4. I couldn't help noticing the similarities between Prv.24:28 and Ps 78:36:
KJV at Prv. 24:28: "Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, And do not deceive with your lips" (emphasis mine).
KJV at Ps 78:36: "Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues" (emphasis mine).
5. Why the translators chose two different words for the same Hebrew word where the rendering should be the same, I do not know ( We have some respectable KJV scholars on BB, I'll let them help with that difference).
6. In both places the NASB has "deceive."
7. Man may attempt to deceive/flatter God, but he cannot succeed at Him who is absolute Wisdom and Knowledge. -
What's that supposed to mean? The witty retort seems to be lacking some wit.
Should I assume that a remark questioning my intelligence is coming now? -
It is quite useless to try to reason with Salamander. He reminds me of a child who has his own way of reasoning and just cannot undertand/accept adult reasoning. Everyone else in the world is wrong except him.

Nothing more heartwarming than a boy in a blanket telling Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about.
If Linus is your hero, you might want to adopt his cheerful outlook on things.
Meanwhile...I'll continue to be amused by your posts.
Hope that doesn't offend you.
If it does, you'll live.  Laughter is the best medicine, you know. Folks have been laughing at me for years. Must help 'em somehow.
did I say at me...er, I meant with me... -
Pro 15:15 (KJV1611 Edition):
All the dayes of the afflicted are euill:
but he that is of a merry heart,
hath a continuall feast.
Pro 15:15 (Gevena Bible, 1587):
All the dayes of the afflicted are euill:
but a good conscience
is a continuall feast.
The real $3 bill says "good conscinece;
the phonie $3 bill says "merry heart".
What's in your wallet?
