Pretty sure there are, but I'd have to look it up, and I don't have time for that right now. I know there are mss with mixed text type before then.

perhaps not, as I not see that our understanding of the Greek text is the same. I have been through this very thing for over 35 years now, and cannot see much middle ground. Btw, your remark about Westcott, Hort and Ellicott, that "they were baby baptizing, formalistic Church of England", are illjudged, to say the least! I don't much care at the way they handled the text in the 1881 Revision, but do acknowledge that they were very brilliant scholars in the filed of textual criticism, even though some of their conclusions were way off. I don't see Robinson as an "enemy", as he is very much as brother in the Lord. But I do know that too much has been made over the years on the Byz. Priority, which I personally do not hold.
I sincerely wish you well, and look forward to reading what you post on your thread. Blessing in Jesus, our common cause!

Of course Hort & Westcott were brilliant. They changed the whole face of textual criticism and Bible translation. But that doesn't mean that I agree with anything they did, either in those areas or in their theology.
I thought the very fact that our views are different was why we discussed them here. :Coffee
But suit yourself. God bless.

If you buy into the KJVO critics of them, one was into voodoo, and the other was a serial killer!

a bit of a sweeping statement? "anything...in their theology". Reading Westcott on John 1:1 shows that he believed in the True Deity of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Trinity. etc

You misquoted me. You left off "That doesn't mean...." I did not say that I did not agree with anything they did or wrote. The context of our discussion was strictly on textual criticism.
I actually had a book by Westcott, I believe it was, with a decent Christology, but I gave it to my son.

but you must admit that they were slated for what they did, and very unfairly at times

Both of them was conservatize for the time, as liberal and critical theology was starting to ravage Christianity of that time!
