Let me be put it more plainly... I am strictly KJV and I associate with many factions of Christians with various translations... I read, study and quote mine and they read, study and quote theirs... Never once in this fellowship interaction have I told them you need to read mine or did they say I need read theirs... The only time see such nit picking and division is on this board and I've been seeing it for over nineteen years... Beat your drum and toot your own horn I'm not listening and when and if this argument ever comes up, in my presence I will do it the Christian way and walk away... Like I said in my last post this OP is much ado about nothing... Brother Glen:)
I really don't think they are.
I have had a wee bit to do with people from the Trinitarian Bible Society and they are lovely believers in Christ and make some fine translations into other languages.
They have a little bee in their bonnets about the KJV, but I get on fine with them.
I tend to agree with @tyndale 1946.
I think the problem lies with the anti-KJV brigade who are constantly attacking a non-existent problem.
Live and let live!
You have not demonstrated that there is any actual "anti-KJV brigade" among believers.
Disagreeing with KJV-only reasoning/teaching is not being anti-KJV.
My bias and preference has been for the KJV while I do soundly object to erroneous human KJV-only reasoning/teaching.
KJV-only reasoning/teaching is not a non-existent problem since it is presented in thousands of copies of over 150 KJV-only books, in several KJV-only publications or newsletters, and at KJV-only web sites.
All the specifics you have thrown at the NIV are not found in the text of the NIV. You can't get around that basic fact. You have never proven from the text of the NIV any of your reckless accusations. And that is quite the shame for a professing Christian --years on end.
I have never seen a thread instigated by a full-on KJV-only protagonist on this forum, but I have seen plenty of attacks on these mythical people, usually either from yourself of the chap with the thing about Ford Corvettes.
You are hunting unicorns, on this forum, at least.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.
Its not just me seeing the various issues in the 2011 Niv though, as there is the Bible researcher, Committee on Guidelines, SBC, so many feel same way I do!
We can all agree that the Kjv was and is a good translation, but let us not put it down to being worthless, nor exalt it as being equal to the Originals either!
