I was just wondering out loud as to the sexist inclination of the world giving things a hint of male in what they are named!

After all, in the church, we have "Hymnals" and sing "Hymns." Why were these not referred to as "Hymns" or a "Hymnals?"

If you look at bodies of water from where you stand on the shore, or from the deck on a ship or boat, you will see "Bouys," but not "Gouyals."

Let's have some fun and see if any of you may have other examples where names or terms give a hint to the masculine in contrast to the feminine?

So you think Hymns are masculine?
It depends on what you perceive.

I'd suggest the opposite of a feminine collection of Hymns (Hymnology) would be a masculine Dictionary.
    (Edit away boys :tongue3:)

of course we also have manikins but no womikins
    and gyms but no jaynes
