Ya'll just won't believe how hard it is snowing today - not ice, REAL snow and lots of it.
It's sticking and everything!
I know that some of ya'll are sick of the snow and justifiably so.
I'm sorry about that.
Truly.
We've had two ice days and now a true snow day.
I keep reading Facebook and seeing all my 4th graders playing in the snow.
I'm so glad.
They've never seen it like this.
I've not seen a winter like this. We've had 50 degree weather, sunny, and hardly any snow at all in Feb. Of course, we all drive big SUVs out here, so……..
I just read today that Boston has received over 100 inches of snow this winter. Meanwhile I can see mostly brown grass in my back yard with small islands of snow dust here-and-there in Minneapolis. I'm OK with giving other parts of the country my snow this winter. I'm glad you're enjoying it Scarlett O.
I have snow up to the bottom of my first floor windows and banks along the driveway a bit over six feet. We had a heat wave today hitting 18 degrees this afternoon. -5 in the forecast for overnight which would be our 29th day of below zero since January.
We just moved back to Alabama a couple of months ago. I told my cousin last night, I moved back to Alabama to get away from this stuff.
Depends on where in Tennessee you are. If you're in the mountains, where my mother is from, it's not uncommon. You probably won't get a lot, but it does snow there.
The winter of 76-77 was similar except worse overall. Just as now the jet stream dipped way further south than normal bringing artic air with it. Bees were flying and bears coming out of hibernation in Alaska while citrus groves down to Orlando were being killed by the cold. Also, just as the 1976 hurricane season produced no significant hurricanes in the Gulf, neither did the 2014 season. To me, if there was ever a harbinger of hard winter for SE and Mid-Atlantic, it's what sort of hurricane season we've had.
Is it solid?
Oh of course not, but it should be one would think!
Autumn has blown in here, howling gales and torrential rain, but now lots of lovely blue sky with flocks of cloud sheep. Hope it warms up for you folk on the other side of the world!
