So then the millions of white conservative Southern Democrat voters (in addition to all the congressmen, governors, mayors, sherriffs, etc. in the party) were also bought as well (since their was no “switch”, and all the SAME PEOPLE stayed in the SAME party), and they, who were opposing all racial change of policies, and giving blacks anything, all suddenly agreed to do a complete turnaround and in fact give the blacks handouts to make them “dependent”. That was a major change of view on their part, and a major sacrifice, to give up all their tax dollars they were so worried about, for a big liberal government they were suspicious of. (It would have been much easier for them to just switch parties).
The Southern Strategy is “fictitious”, but THIS is what really happened?

But you're not addressing all the white votes that would have been “bought” under that scenario too (Those already in the party, who did NOT want any such “new slavery”, they wanted segregation to continue). And most elected MEMBERS of the party as well. Do you REALLY think all those sherriffs, with the hoses and dogs and all, were going to suddenly say “OK, let's stop hosing them, and embrace them, and give them our money, just so we can get more votes”.Once again, those were the CONSERVATIVES, not the liberals. They had principles they were upholding, and did not look like they were going to just overnight throw them away just for “votes”.

That's not a straw man. You deny there was any party switch called the Southern Strategy. So the people spending the 22 million must have been the same ones hosing and lynching them and refusing to give thes basic freedoms less than a generation earlier. You keep mentioning ONE president. What about all the other party members and the voters?

It has everything to do with it, according to your claim, because it's all about the PARTY. You can't seem to answer what happened to all those Southern Democrats who refused to give up anytheng to blacks. One single man game along and made a statement about “buying the black votes”, and somehow wipes out that whole demographic. Suddenly, all of those deeply conservative Democrats who upheld the Constitution and opposed blacks in the name of states rights, small federal government, small federal spending, Christianity and “traditional moral values”, and the fight against “communism” (and they did use all three tactics I mentioned, so I don't even see how that's an issue); they all of a sudden decided to give these blacks 22 trillion!
It's not a straw man; it's something you can't address. The people spouting this “it's all the Democratic Party's fault” nonsense for a long time had no clue there was an answer for tlat, and now that it has started to be discussed, you've had to cobble together some makeshift response. But sorry, it's full of holes.

Also, should be mentioned, the blacks changed parties for far more than just the Great Society, or to get “handouts”. (A ridiculous generalization and reduction of the entire Civil Rights movement to an evil motive!)
