Revered, devout Christian, or charlatan - Each must decide for him/herself.
Personally, I believe he was a Christian, though I disagreed with many of his "predictions".

I went to his crusade in Richmond, VA way back in 1974. I remember a story he told us;
Jack had been involved in a vehicle collision as a teen. He had to go home to tell his dad
about it. It was hard on him, because he was afraid of what his dad was going to say or do.
Well, Dad listened to Jack and then replied "PRAISE THE LORD" Jack couldn't believe
what he said - so he asked dad - how can you praise the Lord when I wrecked the car.
Dads answer was priceless - Because, the Devil didn't get me mad!!! -

I enjoyed his teachings! Maybe they lacked in lining up with my theology, but he and his lovely wife were solid fans of Jesus, and that was what endeared Jack to me! He will be missed, and I encourage each of you to pray for his wife, Rexella, as I know she must be devastated. She was an awesome soul-mate for Jack, always at his side, and while death is surely GAIN to the dying, those loved ones left behind are in need of our prayers for strength and courage to face the days without their sweetheart!
