So it is now "gossip" to hold a public figure accountable for their statements when those statements are clearly contradictory?
John Ankerberg and Ergun Caner

I am not reformed in the sense that James White is. In fact, I didn't like how James White came across in his transparency over the Caner/White debate that didn't happen. White rubs me the wrong way.
But one's side of the Calvinism/Arminian debate has nothing to do with this. I know that Tom knows this and is just making a point - a valid one at that!
I am getting to the point of being sickened by Christianity in America. I am not sick of Jesus, just public expressions of Christianity. The statements by Ankerberg and Geisler have me completely baffled. Have I completely lost my grip on reality? I trusted these guys.
In the words of Vince Lombardi, "What in the h _ _ _ is going on out there!"
I haven't a clue anymore. -

The Caner Mess
I would say that at this point, everything we think we know about Caner is now in doubt. Let me give a comparative analogy from my own experience.
As a retired military officer, I am habitually careful about my statements concerning my career activities. When I speak of it, it is imperative for conscience' sake that I get it right.
Examples:
1. I was on active duty for the last days of the Vietnam War--am I a Vietnam Veteran? No, I was on Guam after the final prisoner exchange, and I did participate in the illegal and "secret" Cambodia boming missions. At best, I am a Vietnam Era vet. When talking to another vet, I make sure to note that I was never "in country."
2. I supported Operation Nickel Grass FROM GUAM, but I was not on the ground at Tel Aviv airport helping unload the stuff we sent Israel.
3. We provided cargo support for Grenada and the relief of the Marines in Lebanon after the barracks were bombed ( 1983?)--but I was not there.
4. My troops and aircraft were the first on the ground in Gulf I, but I am not a veteran of Desert Storm, because I did not personally step on that battle field.
5. I provided logistical support for El Dorado Canyon, but personally had nothign to do with that F-111 putting a bomb in Qadaffi's living room.
I could go on, but you get the picture. We have an organization of ex-GIs called "Stolen Valor," who smoke out the fakes.

Now, if this is a big deal in the military(and you can go to JAIL for being a fake vet) then why should it not be a bigger deal talking about the souls of men? -
Truthfully, Martin, the public expressions of Christianity, as represented by Caner, Geisler, and Ankerberg, in America today sickens me. I am not sick of Jesus, but I am getting quite a tummy ache with regard to Christianity. -

Really?how is this gossip holding anyone accountable? Do you think you are actually doing something here by gossiping about him? Do you think you are playing a part in holding him accountable?
How absurd. What you all are doing is getting your jollies at the expense of a brother. The need for repentance is as much yours as it is anyone else. -
When Geisler and Ankerberg go public with their statements, it is not gossip to discuss their statements. How very sad to accuse the internet prophets of gossip for seeking to confront the very public sin of Caner, Geisler, and Ankerberg. -
"millions of viewers" Ankerberg? Isn't that a stretch of the truth? Maybe I'm wrong.

Just curious -
I'm still not sure Ankerberg has millions of viewers. But I am open to being corrected w/ factual info. -

I thought every evangelical television star had millions and millions of viewers. I mean, the signal is available in all those houses, everyone must be watching ;)
