For one thing, unlike John Piper, John MacArthur almost never seems joyful when teaching. Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23

John MacArthur Told Beth Moore to ‘Go Home’ for Having the Audacity to Preach the Gospel and Help People | RELEVANT

My church has women giving sermons on the pulpit, but all the pastors are men. I could give Biblical reasons why women should be allowed to teach.

Please keep in mind that my intent in this thread is not to say that I am a better person than John MacArthur. He just needs to repent of his hypocrisy and God will forgive him. I would feel sorry for him if he died without repenting.

Whomever the shoe fits. As I wrote, "some that might help us judge ourselves by the truth." Ourselves is bigger than the OP and JM.

Has John MacArthur's ministry help win some? Probably. Has John MacArthur's ministry helped edify some within the body of Christ such that Christ's ministry was enhanced? Probably. Do I think John MacArthur's Calvinism is false doctrine? You bet.

So rather than attacking the character and qualifications of those holding what is believed to be mistaken and false doctrine, we should accurately present the errant view and provide a unambiguous explanation from scripture as to why the view is bogus.

Attacking strawperson manufactured misrepresentations is of no value, and of course attacking the character and qualifications of those holding bogus views is to use a fallacious argument.

On the other end of the spectrum - most of my life I pastored tiny churches that could barely pay anything. I left it up to the congregation. Most gave a small gift weekly. In one such church in which our own giving almost covered the weekly gift we received: One morning I mentioned in my sermon that pastors in the good ole days often were paid in fruit, veggies, or some other gift. I mentioned that I did not hold that a preacher necessarily needed to be "PAID" - that preaching was his gift and that he did what he thought he was to do, and if he were paid that was a plus. (not here to argue the point :)

The church treasurer (an older woman) walked up to me and said some thing along the lines of - Well, if that is what you believe then we don't need to pay you any longer and we won't. And they didn't :)

    HD,
SBG and I do not agree on several doctrinal issues at this point and yet he sees very clearly what you offer here is not correct.

HD ought to be ashamed of himself, as he is here trying to destroy the character of this man of God, who has stood up for Bible Truth for many years. It is very sad when we see those who are "Christians", falsely attack others with NO actual evidence, other than what the wicked world uses. The devil is using "believers" to bring down godly men and women who God is using for His Kingdom. True Christianity is much more than "doctrine", we must always uphold truth, especially when it is against this wicked and godless world, even against those to say they follow Jesus Christ. I can remember in the 1980's, when Bob Jones Jr falsely attacked MacArthur on his teaching on the "blood" of Jesus Christ. What HD is doing is just that, FALSE ACCUSATIONS, without knowing all of the facts. the Bible says if we have something against another, that we must approach that person first, and see what they have to say. I doubt very much if HD even bothered to contact JM. It is HD and not JM who needs to repent and aoplogise to JM for slander.

Ultimately, each to God's own, 1 Corinthians 4:1-2.
