For those of you who remember my husband fondly (or not so fondly), you may be interested to know that he recently learned that he was accepted into the Ph.D. in Religion program at Vanderbilt. He'll be starting work in Homiletics and Liturgics there this Fall.

Congratulations and best wishes to Joshua. I am confident he will do well. God bless.
Cheers,

Best of luck. Soon to be two doctors in the house.

Now you've stumped me.
"Liturgics"? Never heard of that as a major or PhD emphasis.
We Baptists (for the most part) steer AWAY from "liturgy" that prevails in the Lutheran or Catholic services.
A little more explanation? -
I'm not a theologian or clergyperson, so you would have to ask Joshua specific questions about the degree. If you don't have his e-mail address, I can send it to you.
I do know that his major area will be in Homiletics and his minor area will be in Liturgics. His interests are in myth, storytelling, ritual theory and community; and he plands to teach preaching and liturgy at the seminary level. Beyond that, you'll have to ask him.
I know a lot of baptists don't come from liturgical backgrounds, but our church is very traditional and liturgical; and I know that the seminary where Joshua went emphasized liturgy. So, some baptists must do liturgy.

I found the link to the program if that helps answer your questions:

Man, that is a TOUGH program. Far different and vastly more demanding than most with which I'm acquainted. God bless his work there!

Good luck Joshua and more importantly good luck Joshua's family! May God richly bless your time of study.

God bless and guide your whole family. It will be a challenging transition for all of you.
