I'm not saying people didn't leave as soon as they voted...I have no doubt that happened. I am saying that they came on their own accord and the accounts of Pressler and Patterson bussing people in are greatly exaggerated.
Either way, it doesn't matter. Even if they personally carried every messenger to the convention hall it doesn't matter because every church has their allotted messengers and the churches spoke.
Too much is made of this issue...and it seems to grow, much like an urban legend. That is why I said it is an urban legend. Both sides rallied support, and I don't see anything wrong with that. The group with the backing of the bulk of the Convention won. -
Those who win write the history. Ethical or not, the fundies won and get to write the history. Just dont try to tell the folks that were there that the fundies did not bus in every man woman and child they could to vote (and then hustled themselves rigt back out of town). Yes they did a great job, but in my opinion how they accomplished the task was less than ethical.
