I tried to change it...........

I have had several, but the current one of Earth is pertinent, since the earth has magnetic poles.

I was looking through some Christian avatars and most were...silly to me.
I had only been on the BB a short time and felf alot like David (that is my first name to) against Goliath, when the next page I saw my current Avatar and laughed. I saw a scrawny David standing over a hulking Goliath that is laid out and a tiny pebble between them. That spoke volumes to me in humor and truth.
I am about to change it though, to a pic of me but haven't really decided yet  -
Mr
This was my first dog, Magic. I got her when she had just had her second litter of puppies. She helped get me through some hard times. She died one month after Sept. 11. I was absolutely grief stricken. Only someone who's had a great friend like she was could understand. She made me a Golden retriever lover. After about 3 months I finally got another golden, opposite in coloration (very light colored). A good way to understand Magic would be for me to say I would have put her up against Lassie any time! -

Yes, you!!!

I am a huge fan of a long-since-cancelled Nickelodeon cartoon show called Angry Beavers. Daggett Beaver and Norbert Beaver are beaver brothers who live in a dam and have random hijinks in 60s and 70s retro-style, complete with Barry the bear (modeled after Barry White). The writing of the first few years of shows was fantastic. It was hilarious, and the voice acting of Richard Horvitz (Daggett) was superb. Daggett was a politically incorrect dopey beaver extraordinaire. He quickly supplanted Bugs Bunny as my favorite cartoon personality. So that's him - my avatar.
Here's an episode. Watch it while you can, since someone will probably pull it off youtube due to copyright restrictions (although it doesn't get aired anymore).

Here's a (badly) remixed patchwork of scenes from the show, a la youtube.

I have this picture because I love Isaiah 64 and the call for the Lord to rend the heavens.

That's my little man...my first born son. When my new child arrives in February, I'm sure they will both be up there.

I switched to my current avatar when Al Sharpton offended some...
I really prefer Al...
AL in 2008!!!   -
This is my little dachshund whom I lost in the custody battle. Her name is Sweetie Pie. Shoulda named her "Mickey" since the marking on her rump is exactly like the silhoette of Mickey Mouse's ears. but that is another unfortuante story.
Can't figure out yet how to upload my fat cat pic. I like it better than this pic. Funnier. -
I have absolutely no idea how to post an avatar.
-
On the avatar:
1. click on "edit avatar".
2. at the very bottom click on browse.
3. it will take you to the directories of your computer.
4. Go to the director that has the picture you want and pick it and click ok.
5. It should take you back to the "edit avatar".
6. in the bottom line will be a link to your picture. don't change anything Just click "save".
7. It will say it didn't work, but most likely it did, so go out of there and back to the main BB board and check and see if your picture is not there. It should work, unless your picture is way too big.
If that does not work, go into the directory where the picture is and change it to "thumbnail size", then do everything all over again.

When I first joined the BB, the only avatar we could have was a picture of ourselves and webmaster had to post it as that feature was disabled to the members, so I just stayed with it.
I only update it to keep it the same as my current age.
I like to picture the people I'm talking to as opposed to getting a mental picture of what they look like (which is usually wrong)... -
Blessings

As was previouslt mentioned, in the beginning we could only use personal portraits. My first one was after a graduation service at the university and when I first retired. My daughter caught the photo whilst I was sitting in the back garden.
The second photo was an attempt to update to my current age. As it happened, I couldn't delete the first photo and both came up, and that is prolly where they will stay.
At least the older photo does show that I am not a youngster when talking with other folk in here. I wouldn't want to deceive.
Cheers,
Jim
PS. I also like to see to whom I am chatting. -
Folks have told me that I resemble William Faulkner.

Just because i could :)
