Still awaiting yer explanation of why I didn't see Jesus return when He said EVERY EYE will see it.
(Well, actually, the explanation's pretty simple - IT AINT HAPPENED YET !) -
Just for the record, Biblically the second coming is a second appearing, ". . . appear the second time . . . ." -- Hebrews 9:28.

**WAS NERO THE ANTICHRIST?**
On another site, I was in discussion with some people who actually hold that view! While, admittedly, nero was an evil madman, he didn't even come close to fulfilling all the Biblical criteria for the antichrist. Nero's life is fairly well-chronicled, better than that of some of the more-famous Caesars. Here's some of his "shortcomings' for being the AC:
1.) He didn't come to power thru his own intrigue, nor did he overthrow three other rulers to become the big kahoona. He was adopted by his great uncle Claudius, who became Caesar & appointed Nero as his heir & successor.
2.) Nero never sat in the temple in Jerusalem & proclaimed himself to be God. In fact, Nero was never known to have gone to jerusalem at all.
3.) He did not have a miracle-working false prophet as his deputy. In fact, he had no deputy at all.
4.) He didn't reject all gods; he worshipped the Roman pantheon of gods/goddesses. He never declared himseff as God, over all of them.
5.) He never issued anything that could be considered as the "marka the beast".
6.) He was not a conqueror. He spent vast sums upon public works, but his taxes to support them led to his downfall.
7.) Scripture says no man will be able to defeat the antichrist, but Nero was indirectly deposed by Galba, whom the military had decided to support as Caesar due to Nero's extravagance & underpaying of the military. When Nero learned of the support for galba & that he'd been tried in absentia & condemned to death, he fled Rome.
8.) Nero was NOT cast alive into the lake of fire. After fleeing Rome, his whereabouts were discovered by Galba, who sent men to arrest him. Believing those men were coming to kill him, Nero ordered his secretary Epaphroditus to stab him with a sword, so he wouldn't be killed by his successor. The men that came for him vainly tried to keep him alive. So, nero died, rather than being cast alive into gehenna.
The TRUE AC MUST fulfill EVERY Scriptural criterion about himself TO THE LETTER. No one has even come close! In the 1930s, there was a movement started by the 7th day Adventists saying Hitler was the AC, as he'd come from "nowhere", was likely of Roman descent, that movement grew after the RC delegates in the Reichstag passed the "Enabling Act" which gave Hitler almost-absolute power in Germany, after which he turned on the RCC in Germany in general. That movement reached its height in 1942after France quickly fell, & Germany was close to defeating the USSR. But, when they lost the Battle of britain & the Russians stopped the nazis short of Moscow, that movement soon died.
The TRUTH is, the AC hasn't yet come. When he does, he'll make Hitler look like a naughty 2-yr. old in comparison. We've had three forerunners to show us how easily one man can suddenly become a great conqueror and dictator: Genghis Khan, who ruled the largest territory one man ever ruled, Napoleon, who came from nowhere, as did Hitler. All three were great demagogues who had masses of people who believed every word they said.
In like manner to those three, the AC will come to power, and, as he'll be indwelt by Satan, he'll be more-successful than any conqueror-politician in history, the most-popular man who will have ever lived, & the most-EVIL person who will have ever lived. While I believe we'll be raptured before he launches into his evil, let's count on Jesus' words that when we see these things lift up our heads because our redemption is drawing near. -

Its not our fault you cant see the contextual flow and, the placement of the transfiguration after Jesus statement trumps your created difficulty of acceptance.
“some standing. In all three of the synoptic Gospels, this promise occurs immediately prior to the transfiguration of Jesus (Mar 9:1-8; Luk 9:27-36). Furthermore, the word for "kingdom" can be translated "royal splendor." Therefore, it seems most natural to interpret this promise as a reference to the Transfiguration, which "some" of the disciples—Peter, James, and John—will witness only six days later (see note on Mat 17:1). “ McArthur -

The answer is very simple, Sir. JESUS HAS SIMPLY NOT YET PHYSICALLY RETURNED IN THE MANNER HE HIMSELF PROPHESIED! Simply NO GETTING AROUND THAT FACT!
Yje two angels present at His ascension said He would return in like manner. (Not EXACT manner) Now, how did He leave? He simply rose up til He vanished into a cloud. He was fully visible as He rose. His return will be just as visible, and EVERYONE will see it, as He said in Revelation.
Now, by no stretch of anyone's imagination has that event yet occurred, simple as THAT! And nothing can be substituted for it without calling Jesus & those 2 angels present at His ascension liars.
The "coming in His kingdom" he described was His transfiguration, which was seen by SOME, not all, the disciples. And "that" generation will be the one that sees ALL those coming events. It could be this one!
But it certainly was not a PAST one! -
The prophesied eschatological events have simply NOT YET HAPPENED! NO avoiding that TRUTH!
Proof? The world has gone right on, as usual, as it did before 70 AD and afterwards. Yes, there have been, and will be, scoffers who say "business as usual, forever. This world will abide til the sun burns out." But Scripture says that, when Jesus returns, He's gonna rule from the throne of David, ending all other government, for 1K years til He steps aside so His Father can be all in all. In other words, the world will be drastically changed!
The "modernization" of the present world is not a "new world". It's the result of God's increasing man's knowledge & ability to travel, as was prophesied for the end times. But it's still the same ole world! People still eat, drink, marry & give in marriage. (only now, we have "Adam & Steve" being socially accepted,, part of the great falling away)
But it all points out the FACT that preterism is false, phony as a Chevy Mustang. -
