Jacob Prasch, a popular discernment speaker has written this article speaking out against the government of the U.S and states that Katrina occured as a result of George W Bush's association with the Saudi Goverment. Blame is also attributed to the U.S for forcing Israel to give up the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians.
I have seen those Michael Moore films about Bush and the Saudi's. yet I am not convinced that is true. Yet I concede that he may well have some connections as he does with other nations globally.
His point is that this happened because the U.S have violated Genesis 12:3.
So I am curious, do you agree or disagree? Does God send hurriccanes to kill people as a result of what their governments do? How does that sit theologically with you?

My ways are not his ways. It would be an exercise in futility to try and understand God's motives, or methods.

"In the never ending quest to do the bidding of the oil interests and placate The Saudi Islamic fundamentalist business partners of his family at the expense of the national interests, as we warned Mr. Bush is bringing God’s wrath upon America because of Genesis 12:3.
As he forces Jews to evacuate their homes to please oil companies, Americans are now forcibly evacuated and the oil industry is clobbered by a natural disaster devastating its off shore drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and its Gulf Coast refineries."
The above is an excerpt from the posted link.
This is pure dispensational hogwash. To say that God is going to punish those who have been redeemed to Him by the death of Jesus Christ because of the Jews is blasphemous. Besides this country is the only friend that Israel has in the world. If we had not been proping them up the Muslims would have destroyed them long ago. furthermore the nation Israel is a creation of the UN, not God. -
Well there you go OldRegular, We totally agree on something!
Blasphemy is a term that does not seem to be used that often, yet I think it is something that Christians need to be more aware of, and how they respond to it. -
No.
Not well. -
No.
Not well. </font>[/QUOTE]I agree Ken. If God really were to punish us for what our governments have been up to we'd all be dead long ago.
I don't know what God thinks about all this but I wonder why we keep putting up with such blatant corruption in government, all governments. -

Psalms 95:10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
It is not an exercise in futility. It is a necessary and fruitful exercise. Yes, God sent Katrina. Yes, He had a purpose, and that purpose is consistent with His ways that He revealed to us in the Scriptures. Prasch is wrong, but that doesn't mean that we can't know why God did something, or that we're not accountable to know. -
Okay - exactly why did God send Katrina, sinced we are accountable to know?

"Besides this country is the only friend that Israel has in the world. If we had not been proping them up the Muslims would have destroyed them long ago. furthermore the nation Israel is a creation of the UN, not God."
Wrong! Are you their only friend? Will you always be? If "you" had not been propping them up? Sorry but my Bible says that NOONE will be able to destroy Israel. It says nothing about God needing the United States to keep destruction from happening. And if He DID need the U.S. to keep Israel from being destroyed...what took so long for your involvement in WW2??? I know you will say Israel did not exist but hey...Hitler WAS killing Jews.
As for Katrina...it was a hurricane. They've been around for many years...I don't see how this ONE hurricane can be called God's judgement. But if it were...hey...God will judge the U.S. as well...and Canada. Our "countries" are not "His redeemed" as OR said. -

"Judgement of God" or "fickle finger of fate"?
"The wages of sin is death..." is the judgement of God upon the inhabitants of this globe. How this plays out is manifested in many ways.
There are two ways God controls His creation: sovereign will and permissive will. We get all entangled in trying to understand permissive will. Permissive will is: allowing things to happen while withholding sovereign intervention.
Examples: God could have destroyed Satan and all fallen angels. God could have destroyed Adam and Eve for having sinned. God could have destroyed the whole world including Noah and the remnant on the ark. God could have prevented the death of Jesus. Jesus said He gave His life--it was not taken.
The people of God are not of this world--this world is going to melt with fervent heat--and everything in it and on it.
Don't look back--remember Lot's wife?

That being said there were obviously "true believers" in the states that were hit by Katrina. -
-
Our secret government did it.

Now look at the direction Karina went, it should of curved up towards the east coast. Instead it stalled, turned 90 degrees southward for about 200 miles then returned to a normal pattern and struck New Orleans. Such an abrupt change in direction is unprecedented for a hurricane.

You better go back and read what you wrote then again brother...
"as we warned Mr. Bush is bringing God’s wrath upon America because of Genesis 12:3."
and:
YOU SAID: "This is pure dispensational hogwash. To say that God is going to punish those who have been redeemed to Him by the death of Jesus Christ because of the Jews is blasphemous. Besides this country is the only friend that Israel has in the world. If we had not been proping them up the Muslims would have destroyed them long ago. furthermore the nation Israel is a creation of the UN, not God."
And I'm a reasonable person. Care to clarify now? -
The above plainly states that you believe all Americans are God's redeemed. Any reasonable person would see that.

Aaron, were the hurricanes that hit Florida last year also God's judgment? Or are they not God's judgment because not enough people died? How many have to die for it to be God's judgment?
When the plane headed for DC on 9/11 crashed because the people on board stopped it, does that mean God was not bringing judgment on DC, the seat of our gov't? Or did God just bring judgment on the pentagon because it was hit?
Are the tornadoes in the midwest God's judgment?
I eagerly await your response. -
I wonder if the ineptitude of the Detroit Tigers is God's judgement on them because of the fans that burned cars, etc. when they won the World Series.
-
Before I respond to you and C4K, are you saying God was NOT active in Katrina?
